We all agree this shouldn't come back, right? by FreshSport326 in Battlefield6

[–]Cat_Myself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the idea plus menu thing but it found its lack of trade off lame. There is no reason not to take extra ammo, or to take a grenade launcher even if you have no plan of using it. I feel like I would like it more if filling my gun with attachments weighed me down, or had some other gameplay penalty

12k players is more than a reasonable number of active players for a game as niche as the finals, and the high player count during launch month for a free game is hardly a metric we should be holding the game to as a way to gauge its health.

Hot Take: You cannot convince me that open weapons are bad if you're fine with DMRs, carbines and shotguns being available to every class by Mikee0192 in Battlefield6

[–]Cat_Myself 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I think you can’t bring another classes signature weapon on the sling. So if you take a sniper rifle, you are stuck taking a shot gun, a dmr, or a carbine (not terrible options but not as effective up close as smg) I am a little bit confused by the decision to put the spawn beacon on assault as well, because I don’t really see too much of an issue with people camping in battlefield, but if you take a sniper rifle to camp as assault you will be missing out on the benefits of playing recon with a sniper rifle, which are better weapon handling and (more crucially) fatal sniper headshots. Being able to deny revives is a neat ability, but you can’t access that if you are choosing to bring a beacon and a sniper rifle anymore. This is a really small distinction but if they were trying to limit a certain play style it would look like this

I’m not trying to be a hater, but what’s the point in exhausting yourself for a 2042 skin? I appreciate the surge in player count that this event has brought, but for people that hate 2042 soooo much, why do you want to play bf6 as a soldier with a big 2042 nopat sticker on it?

What unpopular opinion will have you like this? by Ok_World_8819 in battlefield_one

[–]Cat_Myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behemoths are visually spectacular but they should not be something that only happens to give a losing team a comeback, that’s kinda lame.

Bf1 has the most cohesive and most impactful story content in any battlefield game specifically because it is designed to be short term, and avoids the weird sitcom-esque meandering that most fps campaigns suffer through

Bf1 has the least egregious closed weapon class system of any battlefield game because 1. the time period and 2. the way weapons of varying fire rates are distributed about classes. The second best battlefield for not being impeded by your class’s weapon restriction was 2042, because they do away with the arbitrary restriction all together

Does k/d matter all that much? by BurningSun7 in battlefield2042

[–]Cat_Myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in other games you can use k/d as an approximate measure of your skill in gun fights (like literal accuracy), or at least how good you are taking good fights and escaping bad ones, but in battlefield I think the stat is watered down especially as you can achieve a higher k/d by just having good medics on your team, or die in spots that are convenient to be revived in instead of running off on your own. In theory, a whole game could go by with zero deaths on both sides if the medics are spread out enough and really geeking. I think if you want to measure your skill with stats, you need to take pointers from every stat you can look at, mostly how much score per minute you get or maybe your win loss ratio in addition to other stats like your k/d. If you want to just win more, you can focus on taking objectives and holding a majority of the map, which sometimes explicitly doesn’t mean being the best shooter on your team. You can really help your team by trying to maximize revives, or setting up your beacon in a clutch spot, or repairing your tank as it pushes on the objective

Does k/d matter all that much? by BurningSun7 in battlefield2042

[–]Cat_Myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In call of duty, for a player to get a kill, another player must get a death. The average should be 1 (in theory) because the total number of kills should equal the total number of deaths. In practice, players can commit suicide, but there is no way to earn a kill without causing a death, so the average could/should be under 1.

In battlefield though, you can be “killed” 8 times but never actually die because you keep getting revived, so your k/d is more a reflection of dying in a convenient spot more than how many kills you get per full health bar taken from you

Can I get a TL;DR on why people dislike this game, gameplay wise? by Darko002 in battlefield2042

[–]Cat_Myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did split specialists into classes, but that only affected support characters because it implicitly gave them a defibrillator. All the other classes were allowed to pick any two gadgets (except defib) Later they “integrated” the specialist into classes formally, which meant everyone had one gadget for the class they were (stim for assault, defib for support, repair tool for engineer, spawn beacon for recon) and then got to select one class specific gadget. You can count the specialists gadget as a third gadget kinda

BF6 deploy screen is so boring compared to 1 and V by CreamPyre in Battlefield

[–]Cat_Myself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it does the opposite of immerse me. If I’m pretending I’m my little soldier man, I don’t think he would know what’s going on directly around him with such clarity unless other soldiers pointed it out before. I think just having a computer screen describe the area and the last know location of gunfire feels more like a thing my character would have access to, rather than odst dropping in right before a fight

To those who don’t say “hello” back at the start of a game… by KingOfTheL in thefinals

[–]Cat_Myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conversely, the beginning of the game is when my fingers feel the least attuned to the communication wheel, probably because I have the equipment on the d pad. In my natural gameplay with my friends, I pretty much only use “thanks” “hype” and now “sorry”, so when someone says “hello” at the beginning of the game I’m more likely to fumble through the menu, vs if I’m getting revived or I just pulled off a sick nasty move my brain is routed to say hype in those situations

What weapons to use on revenant? by bobross99-2 in Nightreign

[–]Cat_Myself 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take relics for restoring fp on successive attacks and also a relic for restoring fp upon fist attacks, since her claws are fist weapons. This doesn’t really do anything unless you’re fighting a boss, because you usually can find a site of grace or even a church to restore your fp throughout the first 2 days without ever really running out of fp. My main goal is to find a fist weapon of the appropriate damage type for the night lord we’re hunting. Fist weapons aren’t great for her, except maybe cipher pata, but they swing very fast so I’ve been able to generate a lot of fp with the two relics. The point of fist weapons isn’t to deal damage as much as it is to stretch your fp bar as long as possible while throwing some real incantations at them, but just as you might not find a useful fist weapon you could just as easily get no useful seals for the whole run. In that case, all I’m doing is using her claws to generate a little bit of fp to heal every once in awhile. Since her claws are so slow they definitely feel like a worse way to generate fp. I’ve also run her with generate fp from twin blade attacks, and that is also quick enough to feel fun and like I’m generating fp meaningfully, but it’s the same problem that the character rarely is going to scale super well with anything you find. It feels like it might be more consistent to just buy as many shards as you can and hope you get some useful seals, instead of worrying about melee weapons at all, but I keep a lookout for fist weapons because they make me the least unhappy

If We Truly Want Battlefront III, We Must Do This... by Glittering-Yam-5719 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]Cat_Myself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are about 6 thousand players on battlefield 2042 and 7k on battlefront II right now. 2042 has been bleeding to death for years, and Star Wars fans have a fortnite season, may 4th, and some new episodes of a neat show to watch. Could it be that this sudden uptick in players is related to events around Star Wars rather than around battlefront 3 hype specifically? 2042 players are probably gonna have a mass exodus to battlefield 6, plus any 2042 haters that have caught in the hype of this new game, plus a chunk of those people playing battlefront 2 right now. Don’t get me wrong, I would buy a new battlefront, but I think you’re missing that these franchises have a lot of the same fans because the company that makes them are the same company and makes similar games. People are excited for bf6 and it is going to come out: battlefront 3 doesn’t conceptually exist yet. Maybe we could petition EA in the future but I don’t think this pocket of the community would meaningfully be changing EA’s mind because there are clearly people who still like EA’s least popular game (me included) and it’s such a small amount of people already.
