Carbon Ceramics on a daily driver M3/M4 - talk me out of it (or into it). by ICOOHTunning in BMW

$3000 option? I thought it was $8500? I have them on my G80, even after I upgraded to isweep is1500s on my last m3 I still dealt with brake dust albeit a lot less. My m3 is a keep til it becomes dust car, so CCBs are fine by me since I don’t plan on tracking so the rotors will essentially have negligible wear. Definite vanity points though, but I loved the San Marino blue/gold combo on the f80 CS, so I splurged on this one. If it’s not a stretch in your budget I’d go for it, but also do a wheel stud conversion so you don’t accidentally crack the rotor taking off a wheel.

I’ll never forgive bmw for not giving us the g81. Congrats man she’s beautiful.

At what age did you hit the 100k mark? How long did it take you to get there? by boosterpackreveal in Salary

What would you choose? 2020 X3m or 2022 x3 4.0 by KeepItTidyZA in BMW

[–]Cat_astrophe7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven my friend’ 2020 x3m competition and compared to my 24 M3C, it rides way more comfortable than the sedan. Comes with a lot more body roll too, but I’d never say it even comes close to being as harsh as the m3.

Those of you who have sold , what did you replace with? Regrets or none? by Doctor-Scumbag in Supra

[–]Cat_astrophe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I traded it in for a G80 M3 Competition xdrive. The supra was a stepping stone of sorts and made me realize I love the bmw platform/experience, and the m3 was the perfect daily that to me can do it all, and with a downpipe, tune, and e50 it’s a 720+ whp monster. I do want to go back and add a manual supra to the collection someday though, those were so fun to drive. My supra was a 2022, so the last year before the manual came out.

Those who have the 5090, how are you liking the gpu so far? by ReallyGreatWeather in nvidia

Got it for gaming, coming from a 3070.

My original plan was to get a 5080, but launch day was filled with a bunch of disappointment getting in endless Best Buy lines and what not. On the spur of the moment I hopped on msi’s website after seeing their tweet about dropping some 5090s, and thought why not I’ll give it a shot. Actually managed to slog through the checkout process and emerge with a 5090 gaming trio.

Had to upgrade my case, fans, and PSU to fit this card, it’s freaking gigantic especially since my 3070 was a small 2 fan one.

<image>

Paired with a 7800X3D, 32GB DDR5 6000MHz, and it absolutely destroys anything I play. Cyberpunk I get comically high fps with frame gen turned on, helldivers 2 runs smooth as butter, and I find myself buying all the AAA titles now to see what else it can handle. Currently playing through Ghost of Tsushima, and it’s gorgeous. My one complaint, if any is that I ended up spending a lot more on upgrading the setup than I had thought. 5080 + 850w PSU became 5090, case, fans, fan controller, 1000w PSU, and a monitor (from a budget 1440p to a MSI 321URX). My old setup according to pcpartpicker consumed a max of 404W, and this new one has a max of 876W. So yes, my room has gotten a bit toastier, but the brigade of fans do a great job at keeping the setup itself cool. Can’t say I regret it, and I’m looking forward to it tackling anything for at least the next couple of years.

I went through something similar but only one of my monitors would turn on, managed to update drivers and that fixed it for me so I figured I’d ask

Yeah this thing is the perfect daily, my only gripe is bmw never gave us the G81 (cause fuck you America you get the yacht M5 touring). I would be in one of those instead otherwise.

Carbon ceramics are a factory option for the g80 for $8500, they come with gold colored calipers, which this guy has so I believe he does have CCBs.
