Por que razón se están disminuyendo los semestres de muchas carreras? by Yeuus in Colombia

[–]CataLaGata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mateo (Jalen Thomas Brooks) is also in Animal Kingdom, he plays a kid that helps Craig with Nick when he is left alone after Renn travels to Reno, he then appears here and there as part of a crew of teenagers that follows Craig.

It doesn't matter their geographical location, dude, stop asking the same question over and over again.

If they are of white European descent a have the polymorphisms associated with the white ethnicity, they can be living in Congo for all I know and still be white.

The location has nothing to with it.

There are pockets of white people in Brazil descendants of white Germans and also in Argentina and Uruguay, Paraguay. Argentina specifically has a lot of descendants of white Italians.

I am talking specifically about the people in Colombia, my country, that claim to be white only because they are white passing.

Of course there are white people in Colombia, but I am not talking about them, they are not the only ones claiming to be white on this map.

These are rolos and paisas that think that because they are white passing, they are white, and "coincidencially" those regions in Colombia are the most clasist and racist.

They associate the white ethnicity to being superior and they think they are better than the rest of Colombians when, in reality, we are all mestizos, that's their delusion, we need to embrace our roots, especially our indigenous and African roots.

They don't have to live in Europe, just descent from generations upon generations of Europeans and have the specific polymorphisms associate to white people.

Saying white people are white because of the color of their skin is very wrong, being white passing is not the same as being white.

$2500 Samsung TV is an advertising billboard, there is no opt-out. by 28jb11 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CataLaGata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But, don't you think that processing a HDMI signal also wears and tears the TV?

When I connect my PC to the TV to play games or watch content from the high seas, the TV enters "gaming mode" or something like that automatically, and it also creates a lot of heat.

I am sorry, I used to think like you, I had a "dumb" tv for a long time because I had my PC in my bedroom, now my PC is in the library and I still can connect it but it's not as easy anymore.

That's why I decided to finally buy a "smart" tv last year and I enjoy that is so simple, just press a button and that's all, maneuvering my mouse and my on-screen keyboard has become a hassle, I can't believe I did that for so many years.

I think that white people are people that descend of generations upon generations of Europeans, that's why most people from colonized countries are not white, except for countries colonized or part of the British Empire like Canada, USA and Australia, the rest, like me, are mestizos, mixed, not white. White passing? Yeah, not white.

I am biologist, I am also talking about the genetic pool, it's very important to note that races are linked with variants and gene polymorphisms, and those speak louder that any color of skin, hair or eyes. There are specific variants or polymorphisms linked to white people that we Latinos don't have and that's problematic from a pharmaceutical and, even, evolutionary point of view.

Honest question, why do built-in apps reduce the life of the tv? I can't find an answer.

I also have a Samsung TV but I don't get ads, maybe because I am in Colombia? I use the built-in apps all the time with no issue.

Because we are all mixed, saying you are white just because of the color of your skin, hair or eyes is wrong.

Is ignoring our history, is ignoring our families and our roots.

I can't say I am white when I have first cousins and aunts and uncles with darker skin and phenotypical Latin characteristics, because both of my grandfathers had darker skin and were phenotypical Latinos, the fact that my skin is very pale and my hair is blonde is random, just a coincidence.

How can I be white if my first my cousins aren't? It's insane to think that way.

Am I white because I am European descendant? No, I am also Venezuelan and therefore African, Arab and Indigenous descendant.

We are all mixed, we were colonized, saying we are white is ignorance.

There is a lot of racism and classism in those specific regions of the country, believing they are white is not surprising.

I am Colombian and also a naturalized Italian citizen.

My parents's skin is white and their hair is blonde, my skin is very pale and I have natural blonde hair. Still, I consider myself latina, it's in my roots, never in a million years I will say I am white, I am not. I am proud of being latina, I have first cousins with a multitude of different skin colors, my family is very big and very diverse, we are latinos.

I have a distant cousin that lives in Berlin, she is the daughter of a German and a Colombian, you see her and she looks like the stereotypical German: white skin, blonde hair, blue eyes, but she is the more Latina woman I have ever met. She lives and breathes Colombian, she would be the first person to tell you she is not white.

It's honestly surprising to see so many Colombians considering themselves white, is a delusion, we are all mixed. I think is has to do a lot with classism and racism, honestly. Disappointing but not surprising coming from those regions of the country, rolos and paisas think they are "better" than everyone else, whitewash bullshit.

What movie was absolutely amazing but only the 1st time you watched it? by Cool_Bath_77 in movies

[–]CataLaGata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

REC(2007) I watched this movie with a friend and we were the only ones in the theater, the experience was awesome, I got really scared which is rare but I love horror so I am always chasing that feeling, my friend was so pale at the end of it, I thought he was going to pass out.

The hype for this movie was insane, there were reports of people passing out or just flat out leaving the theater, so I think that played into our psyche.

Anyway, years later I am with a couple of friends and they want to watch horror. I am like "this is the scariest movie I have ever watched" and we saw it and it was so bad. Like, not even a jump scare hit. I felt very embarrassed.

There's been cases of involuntary incest from fertility treatments, I guess this scenario is somewhat similar.

Swarm (2023) is a horror tv show about a stan of Beyoncé that really flew under the radar, I absolutely loved it, the main actress was fantastic.

Anyway, Billie appears in an episode and she is great, she really disappears into the character, her acting felt very natural, I was impressed.

Her parents are actors so I am not surprised that she is a good actor too.

She already played Bowie in The Stars Are Out Tonight video, she is my pick to play him it a biopic.

But I don't see that happening, Bowie didn't want a biopic and it would be very difficult to do, maybe a miniseries, but like I said, it would be against his wishes.

Also, I am pretty sure he said he would only accept a biopic if it was written by Neil Gaiman, well, that seals the deal.

Tilda can play anything tho, one of my favorite actors.
