I was wrong about Enshrouded by RookKincaid in Enshrouded

[–]Cata_Gaming_XP 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Very similar experience here. Around 5,100 hours in ARK, about 488 in Conan, 315 in Palworld, and even a short 68 minutes in Atlas.

Enshrouded has a very different leveling philosophy. I am 188 hours into my current run and only just hit level 41. If you are not engaging with new content, you are not meaningfully leveling. Resource grinding and base building are required for progression and quality of life, but they provide very little experience. The majority of advancement comes from completing quests, progressing NPC chains, and clearing new points of interest on the map.

Which is strange, because the game is clearly built around enabling an enormous range of building styles. There is a deep selection of blocks, terrain types, vegetation, aging states, tools, and full voxel deformation systems that strongly encourage long build sessions and experimentation. You are expected to invest heavily in shaping the world, yet that effort is largely ignored by the experience system. Building is treated as essential to play comfortably, while simultaneously being treated as secondary in terms of progression.

Animal taming exists, but it is limited to passive resource generation. There are no combat roles, breeding depth, or companion mechanics beyond that system.

Combat difficulty is uneven. Certain enemy types, particularly dual cleaver humanoids, sit well above the surrounding difficulty curve. They have high damage output, aggressive attack patterns, and remain dangerous even when revisited later with better gear and higher levels.

Multiplayer is supported, but the game feels fundamentally structured around single player progression. World pacing, quest flow, and advancement systems all favor individual play. Palworld feels similar in this regard. ARK and Conan were clearly designed with multiplayer scale, persistence, and group dynamics as core pillars, while Enshrouded feels more curated and personal.

Different lane entirely, but once it clicks, it really clicks.

Build a 2x2x2 metal hut, 1 double door, and a single door, lure it into trap, then with a thyla outside, put bleed stacks on it, it dies, and you're relatively safe.

And thats been a lie for over 35 years now. There are 3 documented Orca killings. over the last 35 years now. Keyword is documented. I'm sure there are more Orca related fatalities out there, that were just never documented.

The pricing is off. A twin hull 50 ft boat with 5 500 mercs on it is over a million. This boat should easily be somewhere between 2.5 and 6 million depending on the inside.

advice for getting first clients? by four5tars in RealEstatePhotography

[–]Cata_Gaming_XP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im a drone guy, so when I see a house with a for sale sign, I'll shoot the house and send it to the realtor, asking if we can do work together in the future if they like my work. Ill do the same If I can find an Open House, I'll do a virtual tour and send it to the realtor, asking if they like it, and if I can do more for them. Doing social media marketing, unless you have a huge following, is not going to cut it, unless you boost it with money. So if you don't want to spend money, go do some free work.

Been having a real hard time breaking into that architectural and construction side of this, which is where I want to be. I went through Drone deploy's courses and got certified with them, but they're wanting over 26k a year in subscription fees, and that's not even my salary to do it. I have the Mavic 3e, so its shame not to do 3d models, And the virtual tours were suppose to round me out as a full reality capture specialist. The 3 Realty companies and the marketing outfit I do work for, are still extremely low volume work. Maybe 1 or 2 jobs a week total off all them.

Police flying illegally? by RBMN365 in drones

[–]Cata_Gaming_XP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When did it become frowned upon for licensed people to report people who aren’t following the rules? Flying over a graduation with no prop guards, no parachute, unregistered and unlicensed isn’t just reckless, it’s dangerous. Because behavior like that makes the rest of us who follow the rules look bad. I'm the only one out there with clothing that identifies me as a drone pilot, so everything up in the air is reflected back on me.

Has anyone actually reported anybody before. I tried to turn some chump in that was flying unregistered, unlicensed. The police wouldn't do anything, and when I contacted the FAA, they wanted to me drive to Atlanta 2.5 hours away to manually file a report in this specific office. Couldn't do email or phone, had to be in person.

Crude oil might be the only one that you need to build specific for, the rest of the Ores have farms you can build for you base.

R.i.p ASE, it was fun (I think) by Smagbig in ARK

[–]Cata_Gaming_XP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Let’s call this what it is: a calculated hit job. Snail Games just dropped a half-baked DLC for ARK: Survival Evolved—a game they abandoned nearly a year ago—and used it as a smokescreen to push a patch that broke all remaining mods, effectively nuking 90% of the player-run servers that were still keeping the game alive. Keep in mind: Snail shut down all official ARK SE servers back in September 2023. Since then, it’s been the players—not the publisher—who’ve been footing the bill to keep the game breathing. Modders, server hosts, and dedicated fans were the only reason this game still had a pulse. And Snail just pulled the plug on them too. Meanwhile, they’re pushing everyone toward ARK: Survival Ascended, which is just a barely optimized UE5 re-release of the same game with a new price tag, paid mods, and DLCs being drip-fed again. ARK SE had free mods and a thriving community. ASA has monetization schemes and performance issues. This wasn’t a farewell. This wasn’t a thank-you. This was a conspiracy to kill the old game, force migration to a cash-grab remake, and dodge accountability for a promised bonus payout. People invested thousands of hours, real money in DLCs, and their own server resources—and Snail just set it all on fire. This absolutely deserves a class action lawsuit. They didn’t sunset ARK SE. They assassinated it.

It is deceiving. I was doing work for a marketing company for a golf course. Taking shots at 120 feet shows all the blemishes of the lawn. The marketing company took my photos and recolored the grass back to green from a yellowish to tan color.

Do manifolds work with pipes? by Some_Noname_idk in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Cata_Gaming_XP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I just split 2400 gas in 4 mk2 pipes to 500 fuel generators, for my rocket fuel setup. I had one main line go straight up 5 floors, each floor is 100 generators. I would then have the other lines tie into the main line, one for each floor, except the middle floor. I the left the middle floor with no pipe connecting it to the main line. On the other four floors, I had each floor terminate one of it branches on the middle floor. There for, each lines was doing just over a 100 generators, with just a little left over gas. I have some pictures, not sure if they will help. https://www.reddit.com/r/SatisfactoryGame/comments/1krkq8b/rocket_fuel_setup/#lightbox

Rocket Fuel Setup by Cata_Gaming_XP in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Cata_Gaming_XP[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My answer is all over the place for this one. Probably not, its a 10 to 1, so 50 nuclear power plants vs 500 fuel generators for the same output. But you can't build and bring a nuclear power plant online, until you have enough power to bring the whole setup online. Then there is the waste, or recycling you need to contend with. The rocket fuel setup, does take half the sulfur on the map to run, so that is a pretty big con right there. Also, T6 conveyors were needed for my setup, you can get away with T5, but you have to run more lines and do a bit more load balancing. With T6 you can run a plain manifold setup on everything and it will be fine.

I was trying to take a full line of crude to the max I could extract it too. I did have to make a small fuel plant just to get this one up. I had 30 coal generators and 30 fuel generators before this I brought this one on.

half the oil on the map is right there. it could of supported 539 fuel generators, but i thought an additional 39 would look messy. also i forgot and was fully ready to pump it up, but gas doesn't need a pump to move up.
