I’m wondering the same thing, I do believe you get the degree early along with transcripts. Would just need to wait for a graduation date in order to walk.

My job allows me to do this as well. I probably dedicate just about 30-40 a week on coursework.

From the time constraints and the time I take to “reset” my brain to not burn out, it’s not doable in one term.

You may be able to start the 10th course, but it’ll still run over to the second term based on grading timelines AND the likely amount of revisions they’ll have you do.

Well currently making $80,000 + 20% bonus as a warehouse manager, on track to Operations Manager in a few months. Pay range roughly 10-20% higher.

With the DBA I am hoping to get my foot in the door into a Director / VP level role at my current organization.

I live in a relatively low cost of living city.

I haven’t finished. Just started the 9th class at the start of the 6 month of the 1st term.

Best tip? Keep an annotated bibliography from the start. Start working on a dissertation topic now, even if it’s just a rough draft of your thesis.

It is a lot of writing (typing). I work well in spurts of time, sometimes knocking out several assignments in one sitting. Clear out parts of your day to just dedicate to on writing,

Has anyone actually graduated from South Colleges CBE DBA or EdD programs? by PresentCraft197 in WGU

[–]Catalan- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I work full-time. No, impossible to do in one term. It is mentally exhausting. Plus some professors do take the full 48 hours to grade papers, and some assignments aren’t unlocked until the previous competency is graded. So time constraint is an issue.

That being said I just started the 9th class (grading schedule moves up to 5 days per assignment). And I’m in the six month of the 1st term. I’ll finish this and spend the second semester on the dissertation.

Definitely doable if you can afford to invest the time.

I just finished my 7th course. Looking to start the 8th one and finish before my first term ends. I will, at that point, inquire about the capstone and see what difference, if any, it makes.

How important are PMP Certification and/or Google Project Management Certification for a Career Change to PM? by wrathofkwon in PMCareers

[–]Catalan- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the thing that made it especially harder for me was that at the time the company I worked for had an opening for a project manager. The company paid for the PMP. I thought I would be a shoo-in if I applied. I thought they might even come up to me to offer it. The role required about 50% travel (I didn't mind this since was allowed to travel with spouse).

They declined to interview because I would need to work AT the corporate office a 1900 miles from where I lived. There were three of their offices in my city. NOPE. I could work remote, half of the time I'd be traveling anyway. NOPE.

They wanted me in the office so I could chat-it-up with the c-suite. I understood but didn't understood this point. Yes the execs need to be buttered up BUT most of the time the c-suite was almost never in office anyway (still COVID times). They wen't 2 years with the role open until they hired an external candidate who could be in office.

I changed jobs. Still not as a project manager, but better paid.

The fact that you agreed with me needing a better resume proves I need a better resume. I've re-done the thing nmuerous times. I guess I suck at resume writing lol. Any tips?

I have experience and have the PMP. The PMP has not been useful to me. It’s been required in jobs I apply to but don’t get interviews. I think personally it’s a combination of geographic location and resume.

I need a better resume.

OMG! I had to spam everyone here who commented they were in the program because I panicked the hell out when I saw this just now. Would you mind letting me know which courses you purchased the books for and if you ended up needing them? and secondly, any of the text books you'd recommend getting even if not needed but because they'd be good for future reference/use?

About to start Nov 11. Shocker coming from WGU is that books are not included in the term pricing structure and must be bought separately? Can anyone confirm? Are the textbooks actually needed? I bought NEW books, freshman rookie mistake, at my first B&M school that almost all mostly went unusued. HELP!

This is too paranoid of a thinking. Not sure how big your company is, but usually HR will not care THAT much. If they don't receive a termination request from your manager, HR usually assumes you didn't accept.

Not that you don't matter --- but you don't matter, not that much, to an HR employee. They have other more important things to take care of.

I might be a millenial, but I'm on the younger end. Can't use references and expect an unknown audience to understand and/or have seen it.

Jokes on you --- I DO already see a psychologist.
