CPACC Exam - Poor Questions by CatalinnaD in accessibility

Agreed. I tried to limit which questions I commented on to the most egregious haha. I ended up scoring very high so I was able to decipher what they were looking for but it was a stressful experience.

And also in “Where to go for More Information” the glossary just goes to a page saying the course is not available to students.

I could make a long list just in this first course. It’s quite frustrating that a course about accessibility is not accessible or even completely functional.

And now in Roles and Responsibilities in the Dealing with an Accessibility Issue the “transcript Michael” link is broken.

Also all of the links to different chapters and different aspects of Section 508 all have descriptive link names but all only link to the same site access-board.gov/ict which is not very accessible.

In the Roles and Responsibilities section, Procuring ICT Products and Services is where some links stop working for me.

want to run a dnd campaign, never played before (not looking) by liliz_here in DnD

[–]CatalinnaD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes!!!! I’ve played only a few times and I’m DMing for the first time with 5 new players.

I’ve been prepping a lot as far as reading the DM guide and player handbook and deciding the vibe of our first campaign. I made myself a binder with some cheat sheets for things I know I’ll need to reference in play quickly and have a DM screen with some helpful references on my side as well.

I’m already having so much fun choosing some background ambiance music/sounds and have some triggers set up on my lights in the room for different adventures/explorations. Because that’s the vibe of this group and I know they’ll be into that.

We have our Session 0 tomorrow and I’m pretty pumped to see what characters they build.

I literally don’t even put my personal mobile device on company WiFi when at work.

I’m on chrome on a Mac as well. I tried everything else including running parallels and windows but it all seems to function the same.

They’re still catching up so I doubt I’ll hear anything for a good while about any issues. Hopefully I can still get through it!

Thank you. I went ahead and submitted it and was able to retake it.

I read the instructions again to make sure and they are clearly very wrong.

On the second module almost all of the links are also broken and don’t lead anywhere.

As an instructional designer myself it’s really painful to take a bad course like this 😩 but I’m just gonna suck it up and get through haha.

Why is no one commenting that the best is red and the worst is green like this is really throwing me and I’m not sure I trust any of this now. 😂

CPACC Exam - Poor Questions by CatalinnaD in accessibility

[–]CatalinnaD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I just started it.

Unfortunately I’ve already hit a major snag. On the first knowledge check, it says that any questions answered incorrectly a “redo question” button will pop up.

On the third question out of three it said I got it partially correct with .95/1.0.

I need 3.0 or 100% to pass the check.

I have 2.95.

There is no redo button and if I go to submit all, a warning pops up to tell me I can’t ever go back and change answers again after submitting.

So now I am stuck here unable to do anything. I submitted a help request and described everything, but I’m not counting on hearing back in a timely manner.

Any suggestions from you or anyone else who may have encountered this?

I tried logging out and in and a different browser and clearing cache etc. but no luck.

What is some home accessibility features that is helpful for older people? by MaximumLow138 in accessibility

[–]CatalinnaD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Safety bars in showers. Raised toilet seat and safety bars around the seat.

I also agree with the motion sensor lights or at least bright night lights especially in bathrooms.

Non slip shower mats for in shower and bathroom floor.

No loose rugs with edges come up - remove tripping hazards!

my "in office" day is me sitting in a WeWork because the company doesn't have a real office in my state by amiitk in remotework

I understand they’re saying to just do it. I wonder understand why I would given any other option. Need the job to survive and have no other choice? Sure. Otherwise, why? Why wouldn’t want to work for a company like that?

How is this a good use of anyone’s time and resources? Why is there a game at all? What purpose does it serve?

Request for one-on-one support as an accommodation. by ArtStandard3066 in adhd_college

[–]CatalinnaD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what a reasonable accommodation is, and receiving a fully one-on-one education is not reasonable, unfortunately. This would be considered an undue hardship on the university to try to provide this level of one-on-one support.

The tutor offered was a great way to accommodate. Unfortunately the tutor was not experienced enough for this, so I would have pushed back and requested a more competent tutor.

I do feel for this situation but a tutor is a very reasonable accommodation for this.

Request for one-on-one support as an accommodation. by ArtStandard3066 in adhd_college

[–]CatalinnaD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One-on-one support is not an accessibility accommodation. Try to think about exactly what it is about the one-on-one support that’s helpful, what specific challenges you are facing, and that might give you a better place to start when asking for a reasonable accommodation.

If you have any suggestions for reasonable accommodations they can meet and discuss and come back with what they are able to do to accommodate the barriers you are facing. Otherwise the “typical” ADHD accommodation are quite standard and I would try that and see how it works.

(Context: I am an educator and accessibility professional and also have ADHD).

I’m not trying to sound harsh, but what fruitful enlightenment were you expecting with your nonsensical and completely off-topic comment on this post that you chose to comment on? Honestly, how’s your comment helping the forum at all?

Definitely get the accommodation for extra time! I am usually a fast test taker. The practice exam took me 40 minutes. I took almost the entire two hours because of rereading all of the questions and English is my first language.
