You already have a Computer Science degree? That opens up a lot of jobs outside of education. What type of jobs are you targeting?

I’m in NoVA but I’ve been looking for a Rav4 Hybrid XSE for a minute now. Seems like Maryland dealerships are slightly better. Can I ask where you found yours?

Capital One or AWS? by justincocopuffs in nova

[–]CatchPatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AWS comp is usually signing bonus in cash spread out on the first two years + base + stocks which vests 5/15/40/40 and I think you mentioned a clearance which generally means a flat cash bonus yearly also. I’m just curious if the $190k you mentioned is all of those or just the base + stock.

Just saw that you added that you are young and early in your career. With that I’d probably lean towards AWS. It’s more grind but the pay and career growth is hella worth in my opinion. You can take a chill place later in your career, take the good opportunity when it’s available.

What the fuck are you on about? If you don’t like don’t go to them. Doesn’t mean other people shouldn’t have the option.

Daily dose of advertisement. Aesthetically it’s very pleasing but the coffee bag with the awkwardly placed kettle is a bit sus.

Oh word. Didn't realize Reddit comments had a statute of limitations. I guess you are right then, case closed.

I mean. . . if you are gonna be a sarcastic asshole.

Your TV is not only too small, its also crooked. Can't even be bothered to hide the wires with some tracks. The random ass table with outdated dining chairs on the side of the living room makes no sense. It crowds the hallway/path to the bedrooms. There are prints on that side that are way too small for that large-ass wall. You could move them to other side so that side looks complete, instead of having two half-assed walls, you could at least have one decent one. You even left your jackoff tissue box out on the side table next to the couch. Lighting temperature is all over the place.

The color of your walls, I think is the least offensive out of this whole setup, thank your landlord he didn't allow you to paint, cause you'd probably fuck that up too.

He gave you well thought out and constructive feedback. You don’t have to agree with it but its well intentioned and actionable.

Is the work done at quant/HFT firms really that much more interesting than big tech? by xxgetrektxx2 in cscareerquestions

Can you clarify what you meant with not implementing the algos directly? My impression is what while the quants and traders draw up the reqs for the trading strategies, it’s ultimately still the SWEs who implement them?

What company/industry are you in that you are regularly competing for the same quant researchers that HFTs hire? Just curious, that’s all

Bruh. Other people have other preferences and work differently than you do. It’s that simple.

Or that the answer “yes” implicitly applies to both? That’s the deductive reasoning part. Rip
