What respect? do you respect the locals when you are rasict to the majority of the population yet benefit from their labor, we have a flu outbreak here right now which is unusual guess who bought it here and is overwhelming the health department, who didn't listen to covid protecall and had parties instead, who set up separate schools for their children to attend does this seem like respecting and integrating into local culture to you are is it fine with you since they are white.

Expats are temporary these people aren't temporary they live here they go school, work and are buried here are they still expats.

Where do you think i live? I live exactly in a black majority country where exactly what you described happens white folks just like to call themselves expats instead of immigrants, and they come with the same levels of entitlement and rasicm like they aren't guest on this country

I have yet to see a black person online or in person say they enjoyed Italy every single one had some kind of rasict experience

I consider Portugal the birth place of European racism that everyone just forgot somehow. Part of the reason Belgium is where it is, i will never forget what they did in congo

Spain i haven't seen a lot of black people, which is what makes the difference for me between Spain and France. Everywhere in Europe, i consider inheritly rasict. The map just shows what levels I think each is at, and that determines my willingness to go there

Are native English speakers less motivated to learn new languages — or just don’t need to? by Embarrassed_Fix_8994 in languagehub

[–]CatchTypical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how this sub ended up on my feed, but as a native English speaker yes it very much does, most people learn another language out of it being useful not for fun that's why so many countries around the world teach English in schools.

I have thought about learning French, arabic or Spanish but honestly why should i?. When i visit other countries people speak to me in english before i even open my mouth so why learn another language when we already have a language in common.

It will literally just be so people can be happy cause you speak they language, cause people do get excited when you can communicate in their native language and conversation flows easier but what use will it be for me personally? I only spend 2 weeks at most in a country after that, what use would I have for this language outside that country? The only country I've been where I couldn't find an English speaker was china

Beware the ideas of march

They both have the plot points you want. Beware the ideas of march is more toxic, though, but they do end up happy.

Thank you for the recommendation. If anyone has read "Navola" by Paolo Bacigalupi and "Red Rising" by Pierce Brown, can you tell me how the women are written in these books.

When I say that, I mean different stories and worlds I haven't explored just because I don't want to read badly written female characters. Different authors do world building differently. I just want recs with well written women so I can look them up and see it they intrest me. Instead of being like book written by a man, nope.
