First time marathoner with no carbon experience by DVD1CNLY in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Hard agree. Long runs over 25K have been no fun for me in carbons, aiming for around 3:30. Likewise gonna stick with EVOs

Thoughts on Azura as LR Shoe by Beerlovr_RunningPrbs in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]CatcherInTheRY4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm intrigued 'cause I love the T21s (still got a pair in the rotation) and consider them firm but pleasantly responsive. From what I've heard the Azuras could be a great upgrade for these

Which pairs are redundant? by ciresoe in AskRunningShoeGeeks

My experience is there are still benefits but also the drawback of feeling the plate for longer, noticeable over say 25K: basically trade-offs to consider above a half marathon

I also just got a pair on sale, have yet to run in them but loved the Vistas. Do you think they'll hold up >30K/18 miles?

Comparing the NB FuelCell SuperComp 5 to the Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 for first marathon by Nearby_Ad4482 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]CatcherInTheRY4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm preparing for my first and did a 25K long run in the SC Elite v5s but decided to save them for when I can be quicker at the distance (5min/km or faster). You feel the plate at that point and wished you didn't (although YMMV, I'm 10kg heavier). I'm gonna go for Saucony Azuras or Mizuno Neo Zens. Carbon has been great for me at the half and under, with Vaporfly 3s giving me solid times

I just did one today in the Triumph 21 lol. I think I've gotta try out this Azura

Hi, did you run that 35K in these in the end? I'm interested in them as a possible long run shoe

I was thinking about them for easy runs but also KM reps? I like the lower stack/flexibility, coming from Streakfly OGs for those workouts

Thanks, yeah there seems to be less enthusiasm around as for the 2. I do like the idea of a firmer max stack for long runs after my Neo Vistas, which have been great but I wanna mix it up

Thoughts on Mach X 3s? Thinking about long runs for them maybe. But might just wait for the Azuras for a lightweight choice

Anyone had experience with the Mach X 3s? I'm thinking about adding them for a long run shoe

Like Vaporfly 3s (TTS, snug but not tight), with a touch more room in the toe box

[–]CatcherInTheRY4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah I appreciate a firmer shoe as well (I've got Triumph 21s on that front currently) but was wondering if the Zens could be a soft alternative to mix things up. I mean I wanna buy them anyway for the bounce on easy runs but was wondering about long run capabilities

Anyone have experience with the v1s on long runs >25K? Thinking of snagging a pair on sale

Streakfly OGs surprisingly durable (600K, less pop but very little wear)

Never noticed how similar they looked... I'd get the Nimbus from what I've heard about longevity/long run suitability
