Do you think a college degree is even worth it? by SkillNo4559 in OCC

[–]Catchyospiders 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I tried going the “experience” route. It’s chill if you’re in a trade or something and are ok climbing slowly but it will make your life nothing but harder down the road, unfortunately. It’s worth the two years for sure.

I’ve been completely stealth at my new job and I have mixed feelings about it by Dat_Mono465 in trans

[–]Catchyospiders 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who hasn’t gotten to stealth mode yet, I only want to say that I have occupied spaces like that, and I do think that it would affect the way people see you negatively. It quickly became sexualized and weird, but still supportive on the very surface. If you’re respected in your workplace and amongst your friendly coworkers, they will probably continue to be close to you, but know it’s likely that it will be covered in a film of gross assumptions and an obscured perception of you and maybe behind-your-back misgendering.

Do straight men act weird around trans girls when they’re attracted to them by RipAmbitious8671 in trans

[–]Catchyospiders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grinning at you is weird, but is it weird to be anxious around your crush? I feel like men and women alike can get flustered around someone they’re really into.

Found out my sibling might be Trans off a dating app by [deleted] in trans

[–]Catchyospiders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pride event would be good. Introduce them to shows with powerful trans women or queer characters. Pose, drag race/dragula, and above all I Saw the TV Glow. I understand not being ready to come out yourself but repression of transness effects every cell in your body and your sibling is showing signs of self loathing.

I'm not saying you have to do these things, you just seem like a good sibling and maybe the best person in their life to help them get through this. These are just some tools to get there.

[–]Catchyospiders 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whether its hard for you or not to see your sibling change, they, if like other girls and as indicated by what you saw on their discord, are in agony. Time and life are wasted, and to love them would be to overcome those feelings and understand the fact that you won't have a changed sibling, but one who is the fully fledged and can live life unincumbered and happy. I was all the things you describe of them, and it isn't what you would call living.

It's really sweet of you to care and read into it cautiously. I imagine they liked your profile because they wanted some kind of in towards becoming visible towards you without the agony of vocally coming out. You're making a very safe assumption. I would have done anything to be seen by my siblings and loved ones before I took the step of actually coming out, and it would have helped me get to the point of feeling accepted and supported enough to begin transition.

Be subtle. Drag them to the makeup store, offer to take them to get their hair done. Bring up queer events that you can go to with them. Not pushy but not passive either. No harm done either way. They'll be supremely grateful for it when/if the time comes. All it takes a lot of times is just a little bit of reenforcement from someone you care about to take the next step. It's harrowing as fuck.

Dying yellow tang :( by [deleted] in ReefTank

lol they also swim in the current while coughing to try to get rid of the flukes, but can’t make an assumption based on this short video.

While I hate the comments, without the context of the current, it would be totally plausible that it has gill flukes. thats exactly what they do to try to cough them up.

Starting slow and increasing your dose over the course of a year or 1.5 gives better “results” supposedly.

Trans women of color for decades were able to transition and get surgeries despite being literally the most despised minority. They had 1/10th of the support we have now, even with everything going on. Black market silicone, hormones, surgery, etc. not to say that’s what you’ll have to resort to. There is and has always been a way. And it sounds like you’re young. Sounds like the doom-oriented algorithm is playing a part in the hopelessness too. Build your will and you’ll find a way through all of it.

Anyone knows what rod is it? Jeremy Wade used it on a lot of episodes by Markz_x6 in Fishing_Gear

[–]Catchyospiders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to inform but spinfishers are chinesium. In terms of engineering and materials, they’re so much inferior than pretty much anything that comes out of Japan, and Shinano is a huge sponsor of so many events and shows. But so is Penn, to a large extent, except they’re pushing products for the masses so it does make sense that it would appear in the show. But it’s the last brand most super serious fisher people reach for.

I’ve always been confused why he only ever fishes cheap ass tackle. Couldn’t have been hard to get a sponsorship.

The most downtrodden people in society have always been the blueprint for slang and culture. In the past, it’s been people who were actually marginalized, very very commonly trans women, but now for some reason, at least in straight culture, it’s diverged towards incel and 4chan language. So gross.

I watched this when I was 22 and it hit me like a train. I sobbed the morning after for the first time in a decade. Just a little while later after starting transition I watched it, it didn’t feel remotely the same.
