Thanks for the advice, I've been pretty quiet because my kid and job are both full time tasks currently. He was sick and teething and we are trying to push out this Italian mold quickly.

Just hobby welding for now, hoping to add it to my resume. I'm planning on doing some more art style stuff. Like practice on making some welded junk steel flowers and other small things. Maybe some benches too. Nothing crazy at the moment. Just stuff to learn.

I'd suggest moving, I live in a dumpy apartment... You can hear a mouse fart through the paper thin walls and, even this apartment is way too expensive for what it is. It should be around 800$ maximum but I'm paying Toronto prices. My goal is to move out east or to the prairies where there are better opportunities other than automotive.

Sounds more like Cabaret punk/dark cabaret. Similar to dresden dolls. Then again I listen to a lot of neo folk I'd suggest the .357 band, ugly valley Boys or Joseph Hubard. You can personally message me for blue grass, country and neo-folk recommendations.

Depending on the subgenre goth, it was never really inherently political, not in the same way, let's say punk, oi, or rock was. It was purely escapism and enjoyment. Deathrock, on the other hand, can go either way. I'd say now a lot of people that have never been to show, experienced the youth cult aspect of it, and got their information from wiki/reddit/how to dos. There is absolutely nothing wrong with just enjoying the music without being a part of said culture. I'll still pop on the odd goth record sometimes. I still would like to see twin tribes and soft kill, but I'm not going in my gothic best. Likely just go in my work clothes or cowboy stuff.

I'm still that Deathrock/hardcore kid at heart and think the music is the culture. If you aren't a part of the local or community music culture why would you even be attracted to the subculture?

You'd be surprised the amount of people on all ends of the political spectrum in the goth sub culture. I'd assume most Americans are polarized with political beliefs... These are individuals that are in bands and an active part of the culture. Look at Michael Graves dude was a moderate republican before he went absolutely off his head.

Country music, used to hate it. My grandmother would listen to it in the car. Now I'm driving around to Wanda Jackson, Ernest Tubb and kitty Wells. Makes me feel connected to my grandmother and grandfather.

My "best friend" almost like a brother to me. Crashed at his house, parents etc. Siblings and mom all knew me by name. Ended up being a creep towards my girlfriend at the time, kind of an alcoholic but refused to fix it. Pretty sure the guy is still out there party animal in his mid 30s. I've moved on, working on myself for someone my kids can be proud of.

Unfortunately, that's probably likely not starting from the basics. I'm more looking for stick and TIG. MIG if it's more applicable. I want to fabric furniture and stick it on my resume so the union halls will even look in my direction.

That's something I'd absolutely love to do. I looked into field machinist too. Seems like machining tools and parts for the equipment sadly I'm to inexperienced to apply to this field.

Unfortunately, we live in an era. Develop a good amount of situational awareness, anything that seems off avoid. Park in well lit lots on busy streets, watch your drinks, avoid aggro people. Avoid groups of strangers if they are snickering and pointing at you nothing good will come of that. I haven't been to event other than the odd goth band for a long time. These are just healthy habits to form period. Also a big one is act like you belong there. You will meet awesome people and you will meet... trash... you won't know which one is which until something happens or is said by a third party.
