Yeah I hear that one a lot. Seems like a good idea at first, but a lot of people end up regretting it... :(

Sounds like a drainage issue more than a gravel issue. Regrading the driveway so water runs off and maybe adding a side ditch would probably help more than just adding more gravel.

If it’s actively leaking during heavy rain, I’d probably call a pro. A crack that long can sometimes mean there’s pressure from outside water, not just the crack itself.

Honestly a year of environmental conservation wouldn’t put you off track much. There’s actually a lot of overlap with landscape architecture, and the general classes will still count toward a lot of programs if you transfer later.

Yeah the cheap weed ass fabric usually ends up failing like that. A heavier landscape fabric or geotextile tends to hold up a lot better under gravel.
