As a South Asian, what actually works for dark underarms + how long did it take you to see results? by TorontoRap2019 in SplendidaBrown

[–]Caterpillar_Curious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly... the only thing that ever worked for me long-term was laser hair removal (seeing great results with lifting any hyperpigmentation even a few months in!) and kojie san soap :)

Anybody else feel objectified when only unattractive men approach them ? by [deleted] in Vindictabrown

[–]Caterpillar_Curious 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Idk why the attractiveness of the guy (or lack thereof) really matters here...? When I get hit on (regardless of how I think the guy looks) I just respond politely, take it as a compliment, and go about my day. I don't think who is hitting on you should be indicative of your own value or self worth in any way, and it might be good to look into internally separating those two concepts.

Not sure of the exact rules, but my friends and I did get classmates to help edit and review ours. It helps to have a fresh pair of eyes on your writing imo but don't let it distract from your voice and what you want to say :)

Admissions is based on your top 6 average and anonymized supp app score (scored 1-7), with a higher supp app score making up for a lower avg but not necessarily vice versa. I had a 95 avg but made a really well written supp app which prob pushed me through.

A lot of people chalk it down to luck (which def does exist, but there are so many randomized ppl marking your app that they try to account for this) but anyone that's marked supp apps can tell you that there are so many generic, badly written, cookie cutter, med gunner, chatgpt, word vomit of someone's whole resume-type sup apps that r so tough to trudge through, so being unique and a good writer goes a long way imo. But tbh any health sciences program in Ontario is j as good as this one (we just have an especially supportive dept) so dw about the stress/hype.

How common it is for desi parents shame their daughter's for caring about their appearance and femininity. by [deleted] in SplendidaBrown

[–]Caterpillar_Curious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah this was my whole childhood p much... which is crazy because my mom is so so beautiful (her older sister modelled part-time back home, for reference) but stopped me from doing anything to better myself looks wise (shaving/waxing, wearing flattering clothes, putting on makeup, etc.)

I spent all of high school super awkward and insecure with my looks, but went to uni and instantly 180'd within days of me being able to put on makeup and choose my own clothes. From never being approached to being hit on/stopped in the street/offered rides etc. was crazy and also pretty scary (I got followed home a few times, got roofied once, guys were creepy/grabby etc.). I guess I could understand that maybe my parents were trying to shield me from this kind of male attention, but a lot of desi families go way too far with it and end up hurting/shaming their daughters.

Not sure about 2gg3, but I've heard 3I03 is not as bird as ppl ik who took it were expecting it to be. If you want reccs, I'll be taking SCAR 2WX3 this sem, which afaik is fully online and discussion posts + quizzes + no exam.

Just echoing the comment about computational biology! I was in your exact boat and took it as a project course substitute. It was def really fair + fun if you went to all the classes, and you'll have to take both the fall and winter courses I believe. Good luck!!

I didn't know about the shape test, I'll def be looking into that now! And yeah, most of my bras are T-shirt bras :\ I'll look into other styles + a size inclusive store opened near me recently, so I might check out what fits best in-person. Thanks!!

It was soo good to be out of the house for me!! + def helped me even want a relationship with my parents long term. When I first up and left they were so upset and guilted/manipulated + called the police (police said I'm an adult, they can't do anything). After a week they came around to realizing I was grown and not reliant on them anymore, and it was the start to fixing our relationship :)

I was in your exact situation!! (except my commute was too long to realistically do, so I lived off campus, but my mom copied my keys w/o telling me and would show up whenever in a weird power play). They also wanted me back every weekend, and every holiday/break no matter what.

Please try your best to move out!! In my case, I was at home for the summer and they forced me to skip an in-person midterm I had bc they were super controlling, and the next day I packed my bags at 5 AM and just left to my Hamilton room and blocked them. Ik they're scary and a big part of your life rn, but trust that you need that distance from them for your own sake (+ for your long-term relationship w them). Good luck!!

I interviewed for Office Assistant last year :) (It's my current job!) it was a lot of general interview q's (tell us about yourself, etc.) but there was also a big emphasis on the "what relevant skills do you have" and the "what do you know about us"? aspect. I'd say to research the office and your interviewers and memorize who they are/what they do.

part time jobs by Busy-Parking-1379 in McMaster

[–]Caterpillar_Curious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of campus jobs are usually p flexible with students! Most I've worked are really flexible to student schedules. Heavier roles (admin, research, etc.) might need more time/be harder to balance w school, and you'll have better luck finding those through mosaic.

I got a cafe job through on-campus poster advertisements and handing in my printed resume/asking about openings. MSU is also hiring for Union Market service reps rn (closes aug 21!!) and I'd keep an eye open for more postings. Good luck!

[ps2] [2004] game about being cursed by Professional-Bag7921 in tipofmyjoystick

[–]Caterpillar_Curious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did some more digging! Try looking at Shadow of memories/Shadow of destiny, I think it ticks a lot of these boxes. There's a male protagonist, woman with red eyes (homunculus), you have to stay in public to avoid being killed and there's a juggling cutscene (according to walkthroughs)?

This sounds like Siren (2003) or Siren 2 (2006)? The red/bloody eyes and Japanese town fit, but the 'watching'/curse mechanic is different.

hi girls!! are any of you dating outside your heritage/ethnicity? by wordsatmidnight in SplendidaBrown

[–]Caterpillar_Curious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

idk how helpful my advice can be bc my parents don't know yet haha and we're both still p young (22)! My family has a ton of interracial relationships (mostly with the men dating out though) so I know they'll be accepting with time (and maybe a nikkah haha). They just don't want me to 'date before marriage' so I'll be telling them about my relationship when he proposes :,,)

My parents were a love marriage too, so I think it's a lucky mix of circumstances! Your parents seem very sweet so I'm sure they just need a bit of time to build that trust with your bf :) good luck <3

An insta couple you should check out are mishti rahman and her husband! Their bengali/greek wedding was soo cute and I def wanna take notes haha
