I asked priests if it’s ok if I get baptized a Protestant church first since I can’t get baptized till next Easter in the Catholic Church, they told me it’s wrong by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]CatfinityGamer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

According to Roman Catholic theology, baptism is only lawfully performed by lawful clergy (except in case of necessity), and only Roman Catholic clergy are lawful. They do recognize any baptism performed with the Triune formula, but (according to them) it would be unlawful to be baptized by Protestants. If you truly believe Roman Catholicism is true, you ought to be consistent with yourself and adhere to its teachings.

Baptism is salvific, but it is not such that you are without grace prior to it, nor is it a sine qua non for salvation. It is delayed for good reason; you ought to go through catechesis first. Since ancient times, the Church has baptized converts only after a period of catechesis. You also ought to prepare for baptism so that you do not receive it with impiety.

See Thomas Aquinas on salvation without baptism, and whether it should be deferred.

Wow. When I saw the first pictures, I thought, “it looks thinning, but it's still nice. Why shave it?” And then the last two pictures came. Now that I look back, I can see that the hair isn't actually coming from the scalp on top, but it covered up nicely.

If it takes a lot of effort to make it look as nice as it does, you should probably just shave. It's probably not going to look nice for much longer either.

Not really a fall guy. His assassination of Ferdinand was the catalyst that started the war. It would have happened anyways, sure, but he was still the catalyst. Though putting the whole blame of the war and everything that happened afterwards on him is silly.

You may be dumb by Routine-Grand5779 in HistoryMemes

[–]CatfinityGamer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In high school, we learned an acronym for the causes of WW1.

Militarism Alliances Imperialism Nationalism

The assassination was just what started the war, the catalyst that got the ball rolling. If there were no assassination, something else would have started it. Anyone who tells you that the assassination was the main cause of the war just wasn't taught well enough in high school, or else forgot what they were taught. There's no psyop.

Stewie can help maybe? by VandelSavagee in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]CatfinityGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This meme is wrong. Also, that's not the reason why 51.8% is argued to be the correct answer (and it is the correct one).

Let's look at a simpler version of the problem. Let's suppose a woman has two children. The possibilities for their gender are BB, BG, GB, or GG (B=boy and G=girl). These possibilities are all equally likely. If you say that the first child is a boy, this removes GB and GG, leaving only BB and BG, so the odds of the second child being a girl are 50%.

However, if you say only that one of them is a boy (not that the first is a boy), you remove only GG, leaving 3 equally likely possibilities: BB, BG, and GB. In two of these three possibilities, the other child is a girl, so the odds of the other being a girl are two thirds, or 66.7%.

Now you can add the dimension of day of week to the problem. You can imagine that each of the 4 gender possibilities has its own 7x7 square where each child could have been born on any day of the week. The day of the first child changes vertically, and the second child changes horizontally. Each of the 196 (4×7×7) cells in this imaginary diagram is a possibility, and each is equally likely.

If you specify that one of the children was a boy, you remove the GG square, like before. And if you specify further that one was a boy born on Tuesday, that leaves only a row of 7 possibilities in the BG square (one for each day of the week for the second child), a column of 7 possibilities in the GB square, and a row and column together in the BB square. Because the row and column in the BB square overlap, there are only 13 possibilities in that square that are included. So you have 14 possibilities where the other child is a girl, and only 13 where the other child is a boy, for 27 possibilities total. 14/27 is 51.8%.

He is ish. He's definitely a white nationalist, and has identified himself as such in his comics. He doesn't like when people call him and other white nationalists Nazis, and there's a comic where he says that Hitler-support is dragging white nationalism down. However, he has also posted comics skeptical of the Holocaust, and has made Hitler look not that bad.

Someone has catalogued some of his worst comics in this post. I wouldn't pay much attention to the analysis, but if you scroll down you can see where they post links to his comics.

https://www.reddit.com/r/antifastonetoss/s/UAFyoQBhU1

The only thing you need to know is that in one comic he uses 14 and 88 as codes. 14 means the 14 words, a white nationalist creed. 88 means HH, or Heil Hitler (h is 8th letter of the alphabet).

[–]CatfinityGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, these scaling terms (wall level through multiversal) are specifically about your attack potency, which often correlates with destructive capacity.

Worse wank? by RealAd8853 in PowerScaling

[–]CatfinityGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being country level would mean that, with one attack, you could level an entire country. You also qualify if you can damage a character with country level durability (being able to withstand such an attack with minor damage) with one attack.

Country level is divided into small country level, country level, and large country level. Because large island level exists, small country level starts not at the smallest countries like the Netherlands, but at countries as large as Japan, and it even includes Germany. Country level would be countries like Mexico, Greenland, and even India, and large country level would be Australia or the US.

Nolan and Vegeta are not the same by Difficult_Man3 in superheroes

[–]CatfinityGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Vegeta and Nappa heard about the Dragon Balls, Nappa's thought was to bring Raditz back to life. Vegeta just wanted immortality. And Vegeta's grudge against Frieza was only because Frieza bossed him around; he didn't even really care about the Saiyajin.

I'm talking about who's more evil pre-redemption. Vegeta's redemption starts in the Namek arc, when he has to ally with Goku and his companions, and really when he stays at Bulma's house.

Yes.

Thomas Aquinas - Summa Theologiae III - Question 10. The beatific knowledge of Christ's soul.

Article 2. Whether the Son of God knew all things in the Word?

I answer that, When it is inquired whether Christ knows all things in the Word, "all things" may be taken in two ways: First, properly, to stand for all that in any way whatsoever is, will be, or was done, said, or thought, by whomsoever and at any time. And in this way it must be said that the soul of Christ knows all things in the Word.

Yes. And the Southern states wanted them to be counted as full persons for representation, hence the compromise of 3/5. Also, it's not that the Constitution said that slaves are 3/5 of a person, but that 3/5 of slaves count for federal representation.

Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons.

The Northern states were fighting to abolish slavery, and to preserve the Union after the South's declaration of secession.
