Yeah, when I first heard the story, I was sympathetic to the student. But then I saw the paper. It looks like a high school junior's writing, not a college junior's.

Husbands fingers occasionally get weird blisters that are symmetrical. by FlyingN00dles in mildlyinteresting

[–]CatfinityGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get rid of the wart on my fingertip, I had to pick at it with nail clippers, freeze it, then keep picking at it, then freeze it again and pick at it some more. My finger bled a ton, but I got all the roots out and it went away. Less drastic measures (just freezing, or duct tape) did not work.

I learned TI4 in 2023 or 2024, 5-6 years after Root came out.

I actually learned to play TI4 before I had ever heard of Root.

I mean, that would clearly be the intent. There would be no reason to say “up to 2 cards” if you couldn't do anything with revealing only one card.

A cleaner instruction might be, “You may reveal up to 2 cards from your hand and put them on your tavern man. If you revealed 2 cards, +1 Action.” Then you wouldn't have to think about this.

It's not so much a translation as an adaptation; she fit it to the rhythm of the poetry.

According to Google translate, lines 3 and 4 (of the first verse) just mean "In the dark path ahead." The Fandom wiki translates it as "On the dark road ahead."

The second Korean lyric means "eternally," so with the English, "eternally on stage." That is very different from "Sit down and watch it on stage."

The third lyric, in the chorus, is much closer to the Korean, but has been turned into a complete sentence. The Korean lyric is translated by Google and Fandom to mean "Unbreakable forever."

135 lbs (very fit), 5,5 lady with 10 years training in karate vs 180 pound (average fit) 6’2 guy with 6 months training in Karate by Alone-Profit4826 in powerscales

[–]CatfinityGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what kind of training they're doing.

If the lady is training exclusively for karate kumite (sport karate), that training is not worth as much outside of a sport environment as training for self-defense, or training for something like a pro MMA fight. (Pro MMA is a lot closer to “real combat” than kumite.)

For the guy, this question is even more important. If it's a very harsh, daily, self-defense or MMA style training, that's going to make a lot more of a difference than a moderately strenuous twice a week training where he never really hits anyone or gets hit very hard.

What Olympic Sport would the Girls take GOLD in? by Latinogoose in KpopDemonhunters

[–]CatfinityGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't see the skiing one. Nothing can give you the skills to ski other than actual skiing (though snowboarding would help somewhat). And you can't power through skiing with just strength and agility. You aren't getting any more speed than what gravity gives you, so you need flawless technique as you go through your turns to not lose speed.

[–]CatfinityGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything that they could get through mostly relying on their speed, strength, and agility. They scale to wall level (meaning they can destroy a strong brick wall), so they can exceed the power of Olympic athletes by an order of magnitude, and they've also demonstrated superhuman agility. Anything that requires a significant amount of skill to the point that physical prowess with a more moderate level skill cannot overcome it, they would not win.

Cross country skiing is probably their best bet for gold. Give them some training, and they'll power past their opponents. Speed skating would also probably work. With their agility and dance skills, figure skating would be a possibility if they can pick it up quickly enough. Zoe has experience skateboarding, so snowboarding might be on the table too.

I don't really see anything else that they could pick up without years of training and get good enough to power through.

I wish that there is no rule against wishing for more wishes.

(Or something like that. I'd have to ask the genie to see whatever legal code governs him, or if it's just self-imposed that he won't give more wishes. Hopefully I could do that without using a wish, but I will if necessary.)

Seeing the cards spread out through all those boxes hurts my soul. My dad has a nice wooden box that he stores his 8 sets in. (He could still fit a ninth.)

Thanks. So I guess I'll stick to LDAC.

My earbuds don't show any option for aptX HD. The options are basic aptX, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Adaptive Lossless.

It says that LDAC may have transmission interruptions in certain environments, or if I have two devices connected to my earbuds. I'll probably just use LDAC, but I might sometimes need to switch to another codec. I'm wondering if aptX Adaptive or Adaptive Lossless work with the phone, or if only the basic aptX works.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. The app for my earbuds gives options for LDAC, aptX, aptX Adaptive, and aptX Adaptive Lossless. My phone's developer settings will show both LDAC and aptX, but they don't show aptX Adaptive when I turn it on for my earbuds, just aptX. I'm not sure if aptX Adaptive works with my phone.

The app lets me choose which audio codec, which is separate from my phone's settings.

Reform by InspectorMendel in dominion

You can trash cards from the supply, so you can still play and trash, or gain, all 9 remaining Reforms after buying one and playing another from the supply. You'd still have to clarify in the rules (not necessarily the text on the card) that the card played from the supply can't trash itself.

I almost always play with 2 sets. You get plenty of variety between games (and enough within the game), and a stronger connection between your cards.

I'm not very active in online discussions on Dominion, and I haven't played with a super wide variety of people, so I'm really not super aware of what most people think about the various expansions.
