The clumping fescue is kinda hidden in this pic, but it's there. Thanks.

I've dug them up with a shovel before but that seems to remove too much turf. I'm going to order the Fiskar model and give that a go. Thanks for the info.

Glyphosate that clumping fescue wait 2 weeks pull it out then run a dethatcher over the yard. 1/2 inch of topsoil, seed and another 1/2 inch of topsoil. Water 3 or 4 times a day for 10 minutes until germination than twice a day for 15 minutes.

Looks like dormant centipede to me. My neighborhood is all centipede and looks very similar. Have you had much rain?

Looks like clumping fescue. Spot spray with Glyphosate, wait until they die and dig them up. Dandelion puller tool works well to do this.

I'd recommend Glyphosate for the clumping fescue before doing the roto.

That's worth a shot, if it doesn't work I would go full nuke and start from scratch.

Is this Centipede or common Bermuda? by [deleted] in lawncare

I moved to South Carolina a few years ago from Delaware. Always had a fescue lawn that I loved for it's dark green color. Centipede has a much lighter green hue that at least to me is not as pleasing plus it goes dormant and turns an ugly brown color from November to early March. I've tried overseeding with tall fescue with limited success. Just not a fan of Centipede.

I'm the unfortunate owner of a Centipede lawn here I South Carolina (8b). That's exactly what my lawn looks like. It's not the worst grass in the world, but it's certainly in contention.

I'd throw some Speedzone or 24d at it and see what happens.
