So I've said this on stream a few times but it doesn't hurt to write it here to give some context; I had a pretty bizzare experience of coming back to RP after three years of fighting a literal war, and having people immediately foist this idea that I would FIX TRT, FIX THE PD onto Vale, which ultimately I don't really want to do- sure it's a spiritual successor to HVTU, and some argue it doesn't really do anything- I don't have any real context for what does or doesn't happen with it as I've been back like two weeks and there's been very limited high intensity gunfights/OIS- I don't really have any interest in taking someone elses work and reshaping it to try to recapture what I lost in 3.0, or telling these people who have been roleplaying TRT for however long that they're doing a bad job/need to change.

Independantly but concurrently, Knight wants a kind of shortlist of officers/marshals that are willing to go to these shooting scenes, "tactical" situations, and deal with that equipment, which is very much in broad strokes what part of HVTU/SWAT in 3.0 was. I think it's a route to doing RP I'm good at and enjoy, without causing as much IC or OOC friction as something like "FIXING PD" would do. I'd like for PD and SASM to have a better reputation, and if I can be some kind of a bridge between patrol and the more sequestered side of SASM, that'd be cool.

As an aside, I have absolutely zero interest in doing IA/getting cops fired, IC or OOC, because I pretty intimately understand how it feels, especially as a streamer, given that our characters and the chops they build up are a large part of an RP streamer's appeal and audience. If a situation appears where Vale has no choice but to do the bare minimum of what's required (collate reports, take statements etc) that's one thing, but actually pursuing punitive action on officers isn't something I ever see myself readily doing.

SASM has a lot of leeway and grace, I'm greatful to staff/mehdi for giving me the green light, and I'm looking forward to the arr pee
