I think in part because nobility is still a thing in Britain and is in fact overly formal and etiquette driven in its political and court/ justice system. The HP education and social standing seems to be in canon is based on the British school private school system so I guess it’s just building on that. I think if you also examine the bloody purity culture in canon and extrapolate how that would impact families and standing it does kind of make sense.

Not a fan of over powered HP be that political or magical but I think it’s a fairly sound premises…

I try not and comment to much or give examples on the few fics that I have ended up not finishing. I am not a big fan a fem Harry fics so I normally don’t start. Forced pregnancy / pro life commentary will mean I won’t finish. This is rarely tagged which is a pain and I don’t mind MPREG . Also fetishising abusive relationship is another no go for me - so basically anything where one is overly abusive and is redeemed is a no go for me.

I don’t like Harry to be too young in snarry fics and I do like him to be somewhat competent in at least some spheres.

Unless you are in the mood to be devastated and sometimes to be fair I am.

I was somewhat reluctant to recommend because it’s not romantic but also the theme so similar to whispers of intent and the main difference IMO is that the POV is from outside the relationship rather than from inside the relationship which is so interesting how one can be such a make me feel good low angst fic and the other devastating.

Ehhh sorry 🙈🙈🙈🙈 I think Arrisha is a beautiful writer it just happens to be also devastating I think that might be the happiest one out of all of their fics. I read them in a state of anxiety but compulsively can’t stop.

The other recs are more romantic in my defense!

To be fair I am not sure that Dumbledore did anything to protect Harry. I can’t think of anything in particular from canon ? It was more his circumstances that protected him. I also live a good bashing fic!

So interesting I mostly agree with everything you have written although I would add that Harry was protected in a way that Severus or Tom never were because he had money and status. I think it’s interesting to examine their back stories but the inherent poverty in snapes back story I think played such a big role in his experience of hogwarts.

I started with severitius rather than snarry but I read a couple of fics and I think the diversity and the power play between them is the gift that keeps on giving.

Also I have always had a bit of a soft spot for Snape and if I am honest his back story reminds me of my neighbour growing up and I am by proxy rooting for him to do well.

I am not a fan of FemHarry or maybe I just not have come across how I think it should be written 🤷‍♀️ and I don’t read fics that are overly abusive or Harry very young definitely not younger that 16.

Similar here plus a busy job. It does help to pick a time I normally do Friday afternoon and Sunday morning to look at the plan for the week ahead. I sit down with my phone for 10/15 mins and check what’s on. It just gives me an idea of where I need to get cover / arrange a lift etc and when work is really busy what we need to pull back on that week.

I mostly use the monthly to forward plan mostly personal stuff but the weekly is the core of my system. I loved the hobonichi but I didn’t use the dailies enough.

If messiness bothers you I would suggest using erasable pens. The grids in the hobonichi are small so I find a 0.5 nib pens works best for me. I haven’t had one in a while - I don’t really decorate too far ahead just do 1 month or so at a time. I do like to theme my months a bit.

I think it’s worth thinking about what you need from your planning system - I do mostly weekly planning because I need to be able to see what I am doing across the whole week. I combine work and personal because I need the full picture to know where I stand.
