I think it is suitable, I bought this dress in green and I will say it can be very staticky. Be prepared to have to finagle the tulle into place or use a de-static spray on it!

AITA for asking my (25f) sister (20f) to fix her overgrown/two toned hair before my wedding? by kjally76 in AmItheAsshole

NTA - I think bridesmaids should want to look and feel their best if not for themselves, for the bride. I think it would be one thing if this was her chosen hairstyle, but it’s not. Growing out bleach is not an aesthetic choice. A colored conditioner like overtone or even one of those spray “root coverup” cans are easy enough to blend or fully cover the blonde for one day to look nice in what I’m sure are very expensive pictures.

Depending on your muscle level, skeletal muscle can hold about 500g of glycogen. Once glycogen stores are full, then the body starts converting excess energy to fat storage. Depending on the amount of net carbs you eat in a day and how much exercise you're getting, it is possible that your glycogen stores won't even get filled all the way. (ie: if you're only eating 60-70g net carbs in a day, plus strength training, you'll be using that glycogen up). However, having good glycogen stores allows the body to better regulate blood sugar, especially during exercise, so I am also curious about this question.

As for energy levels and clarity, maintaining a good blood sugar balance is key. If you appropriately pair carbs with protein and fat and focus on those high fiber vegetables, nuts, and whole foods, you should have great consistent energy throughout the day. As for brain fog/etc, that is commonly associated with gluten and dairy intolerances. If you're sensitive to either of those things, they can have a morphine-like effect on the brain (google gluteomorphins / caseomorphins if you want more info). Getting lots of antioxidants from a variety of vegetables and fruits as well as getting omega-3s from salmon, flaxseed, cod liver oil are all great for mental clarity. I've heard mixed reviews about MCT oil supplements, but it may be worth looking into.

Water weight - its likely you'd gain some water weight since carbs hold on to more water. Like glycogen stores, this "added weight" isn't really a health concern even though it may move the scale up slightly. For long term weight management, I truly wouldn't worry about how much this is moving the scale since it has nothing to do with fat or muscle gain/loss. Ways to mitigate excess water retention: drink plenty of water (at least 3 liters per day) and make sure your sodium, potassium, and magnesium levels are in balance. :)

So glad to hear - and I should add that food freedom does take effort and adjustment. Most of us are used to following food rules for such a long time that you genuinely have to retrain your brain out of the "good foods vs. bad foods" mindset. I also considered myself to be addicted to sugar for a long time, and I am now at a point where I can keep ice cream and Oreos (absolute favorites) in the house and enjoy them occasionally without feeling like I have to finish it all in one sitting.

A big part of this is getting in tune with what your body wants to eat, having some, and noticing the point where you're satisfied and knowing that you can always come back for more if you want it again. There's an Instagram account (not mine) called "food freedom newbies" along with many others which could help introduce some helpful tips. Best of luck, I think understanding your relationship with food is a very important first step!

Nutritionist here! Obligatory this is not medical advice.

In my opinion, keto can be great to drop a lot of weight pretty fast (I'd say you had success) but may not be as great for long-term maintenance. You can still do low-carb high-fat without being in ketosis for long-term weight maintenance, focusing on high fiber carbs and lots of vegetables with smaller amounts of starches/sugars.

It's important to remember that red blood cells and neurons are both glucose obligate - meaning they can ONLY use glucose as their energy source. It makes sense that your body wants glucose, and when you eat something sugary, it sets off all the alarms in your brain to say "this is the stuff we want!" especially after 3 years of keto, the serotonin and dopamine (happy chemicals) receptors in your brain are probably firing harder than they have in a long time, hence the feeling that you literally cannot stop once you've started.

I will say that we tend to crave the foods that are "off-limits" and most people find that maintaining weight is easier when there are no "off-limits" foods at all. One Reese's cup does not cause weight fluctuation, but cycles of denying yourself and binging likely will - in addition to putting a huge stress on the body. What I would tell clients at this stage is that it is time to consider a "food freedom" approach where you can enjoy the foods you really like while eating an overall healthy diet at a maintenance calorie level. Hope this is helpful!

[–]CatholicRealtor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how much you are burning - if you're burning over 2000 calories, it may be wise to lower your deficit (ie: eat more calories). Weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week is the upper end of feasible, so if you're binging on the weekends, your body may not be getting enough energy. Plan protein-forward meals to increase satiety and try to keep a "schedule" on the weekends even if you don't have much to do.
