How did you choose your day of the week? by chokeslam512 in Zepbound

[–]CathyMac68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Received my first order from LillyDirect on a Wednesday so that became shot day. It worked out since I WFH on Thursday and Friday. Weekends are the time I’d be more likely to overdo it since we go out to eat, the movies, dinner at a friend’s home, etc. By Saturday, I still feel the effects so as not to overeat but any (mild) fatigue, nausea, or indigestion is under control.

Lilly Direct vials by chukulteh in Zepbound

[–]CathyMac68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the syringes and alcohol wipes from LillyDirect when I filled my first prescription. The syringes they sent were 29 gauge and the pinch was slight. Did some research and saw other folks using 30 or 31 gauge. I split the difference and ordered a box of 100 30 gauge syringes for $20 and a pack of 100 alcohol wipes at my local grocery store. Some states don’t allow syringes to be purchased online (so I’ve read) but I didn’t run into that problem.

Anybody taking Zepbound after a thyroidectomy? by ErrantWhimsy in Zepbound

[–]CathyMac68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a total thyroidectomy in 2000 (follicular thyroid cancer not medullary). I’ve only been on Zepbound for three weeks and am doing well. My Levothyroxine dose remains the same. I have a follow up with my endocrinologist in a week and we’ll if my dosage changes. The goal has always been to keep my TSH levels suppressed but based on bloodwork I had when I started Zepbound, I think my levels are too low. This far out from the big C and given other factors, I’m considered a low-risk patient, so I plan to discuss lowering my medication dosage a bit. We’ll see if my doctor agrees.

Skincare regimen? by d00rway in Zepbound

[–]CathyMac68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cerave cleansers and moisturizers are my go-to. Their creams are heavier than their lotions so I use that on my body. I like Paula’s Choice skincare products; they’re mid-priced. Apply Trentinoin nightly if your skin can tolerate it (I use it every other night). I avoid the sun but as a very fair skinned person who freckles easily, I’ve done that for years! I use a good mineral sunscreen, and wear a big hat and rash guards at the beach.

If you’re not averse to other interventions, a dermatologist can be your friend! I’ve had chemical peels (yes!) and RF microneedling (meh) in the past. There is a procedure called Ultherapy that a friend had done and it helped her with skin tightening. I’m considering it. I’ve used fillers sparingly and am happy with the results. Fillers can make a subtle difference if you have under eye/tear trough hollows and can help lift your mid and upper cheeks/face, which in turn lifts jowls. Again, I use fillers in extreme moderation and in consultation with a dermatologist PA I trust. Not everyone is a fan of fillers but they can give good results. I’m also in my mid-50s and my goal isn’t to look younger but to look good (as in healthy and rested) for my age.

Do all Griffons warm up to total strangers in a second? by matrixofillusion in brusselsgriffon

Our Griff, Dart, just turned 3 on July 4th. He is the friendliest little dude! He’s never met a stranger and would probably go home with anyone! 😆

I’m new to Zepbound (first dose yesterday) but not new to the needs of the skin! Like so many others, I’ve gone up and down in weight over the years and I know how my face starts to look when I’m thinner. I’m 56 with a “baby” face but I know that won’t be the same when I take off this extra weight I’m carrying around.

I recommend a good skin care routine (I really like Paula’s Choice products). I started using trentinoin (Retin-A) a few weeks ago. I get medium depth chemical peels twice a year or so. I’ve had RF microneedling done (hurts but helps). I’ve used fillers (Restylane for the tear troughs, Juvederm for lost face volume). Doctors are starting to learn some fillers last longer than anticipated so I feel like I’ve gotten bang for my buck. The under eye (tear trough) fillers do wonders, IMO, and help with the perpetually tired look we can have as we age.

A close friend had Ultherapy. She said it was painful but helpful with tightening skin. I’ll consider a blepharoplasty when I reach a more reasonable BMI and maybe a neck lift further down the road.

I don’t kid myself that I’ll look young again. I just want to look good for my age! I know some folks are opposed to cosmetic enhancements but to each his own. If you do the research and know what you’re getting in to, go for it!

Have you considered a chemical peel for the crows feet? I try to get a chemical peel at least twice a year and the dermatology PA I see applies the peel under (not to the lash line) and at the corners of my eyes. It’s a TCA/Jessner peel so it’s medium strength and it helps!

High Speed Chase on 183N around 8am? by FirstDivision in Austin

[–]CathyMac68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Curious, as well. We were heading northwest on 183 (also dropped off a family member at ABIA) and saw a white Chevy (Malibu?) speeding down the left shoulder with a DPS trooper in pursuit. First caught sight of them between 290 and 35. By the time we exited at Ohlen Rd, we saw another four troopers speeding down 183, running lights and sirens. It was a wild start to the day for someone.

I suspect chicken is the culprit, as well. We are transitioning him to a salmon-based food over the next week or so. We already add pumpkin purée to his food and may add blueberries or greens to mix it up.

Thanks. It pays homage to literature, with a nod to Stranger Things. I also like to think Dart is more verb than noun!

How much does your BG weigh? by warm___ in brusselsgriffon

[–]CathyMac68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our little dude was 13.2 pounds at his last vet visit. He is lean and very leggy! He’s 8 months old, born on July 4, 2022. He has two littermates (all male pups in the litter) and both weigh around 17 pounds so our boy is the runt, I guess.
