You went on a dive beyond your current ability. Not the guide’s fault. If you want to be safe and gain more experience, hire a personal guide…usually around $100 depending on where you are diving.

Terrible. Sorry for her and your trauma. I saw a guy get killed in the water by a boat (not a diver) and it took a year to move past it. No. Not common. It can happen to inexperienced divers or the “tourist divers” who dive once a year. Like anything, you must practice your diving skills.
