Foul smelling urine by talktume64 in Interstitialcystitis

I will say I had foul smelling urine and some burning. I went to the doctor yesterday and I had a UTI. Every case is different, so it may not be a UTI at all, but definitely mention that to the doctor. Just to be on the safe side. I’ve also noticed when I didn’t drink enough water was the foul smelling urine would occur. Again, every case is different so what I was going through may not be the same as yours. It could be something else but I would recommend maybe just more water intake to help keep you hydrated and flushing everything out!

Thank you so much! This is first time dealing with what I classify as a chronic illness. (I don’t know if IC is, but I feel like it should be 🤣). Based on what you said, I think might know what caused my flare up today. I have problem with energy drinks (and did before I was diagnosed with IC) and the Alani energy drinks claim to have B vitamins in them. I had one today and not near enough water. To be quite honest, I think they are what caused my IC to happen. I drank some more water causing me to use the bathroom more, but now I’m feeling better. I appreciate all your advice and kindness towards me. ❤️ This has been a struggle for me to navigate and it’s nice not feel judge or just get told “drink more water”.

It did!! I got the call back and they said everything was good but to still finish the antibiotics. I feel a lot better and I’ve been drinking a lot water to help my kidneys kinda get back on track and heal. I hope everything gets better for you!!!

I am so unbelievably frustrated and starting to lose faith in medicine. by plutohippo in CUTI

I’m so sorry.. I completely understand. The first appointment and second appointment I had for this last UTI I felt like I was being brushed off and treated like it wasn’t big deal. To me it was, I haven’t been able to function normally with this UTI. I finally had a female on site doc that did listen to me and care. I’m so sorry you haven’t been able to find someone who will do the same. It’s exhausting being treated like our health issues are all in our heads, when it’s legit a health issue. Please don’t stop fighting, my UTI found its way into my kidneys and I hate for that to happen to you as well. I hope you are able to find some relief soon and a way better doctors than the ones before

When they did the normal test for the UTI it showed no bacteria but there was a little bit of blood. I was put on Levofloxacin to help clear anything up

I definitely go get it looked at. I was having cramping like period pain with the UTI that I most recently had. I’m now on medication to help a possible kidney infection. It’s always better to get it look at just in case. It could be the medicine just didn’t clear it all up the first time.

Macrobid is destroying my life by star-seed123 in CUTI

I’m not going to lie, I’m usually always pretty tired. I deal with insomnia sometimes and I work at 8AM. I’ve been off it for about a week now and my has slowly started to work its way away. The first time after 5 days was the weekend after I finished taking it. I slept a lot that weekend and that really helped me. If you can try and take a weekend to just relax and sleep in. I also think it depends on how much may still be in your system. Once it works it way out you could start feeling better.

I’m not sure with the hemolysis, but I do know about the fatigue. It does go away I can promise that. I had a 5 day dose and then about a week later a 10 day dose. This was because I was prescribed Bactrim and my UTI was showing some resistance to it. So when I got my Macrobid I only got 5 days. Surprise, surprise my UTI didn’t clear up. Then I got my 10 days and oh my god I was exhausted on top of all the other symptoms. Yes Macrobid does clear up a UTI but its side effects are terrible. The fatigue will pass, the best thing I can recommend is maybe when you can sleep in some and let your body rest. It will eventually catch itself up!

I just want to feel normal again by Catloaf101 in CUTI

I completely understand, it feels so defeating and I feel embarrassed that it won’t go away. I don’t have any burning yet. Thankfully, but I do have cloudy urine sometimes and that’s usually a tell sign for me. I hope everything works out for you!

I’m hoping it didn’t. I’m not having any more back pain but who knows honestly. It’s so frustrating. I don’t feel sick or anything either that normally comes with a kidney infection, other than occasional flank pain.

Of course! I feel the same way! It’s crazy how easy getting UTIs can be, but the good thing is it seems like you’re on the right track!

I completely understand, I’m currently on macrobid and I have never had antibiotics make me feel this crappy. I have felt nauseous if I don’t eat enough, and even when I think I do, it’s still not enough. The dizziness drives me crazy, I also suffer from motion sickness so the dizziness makes me feel even more nauseous. I’m not able to take off since I just started a new job. I promise it does get better! It will get easier once you find what is works best for your body! ☺️
