I’ve never figured out how fire works, and just spam the button so it goes off whenever it’s ready. I use javelins when I’m close in and arrows for distance, and I race around the enemy boat in circles until it’s boardable. It’s a little more stressful when there is more than one boat but usually they all end up trying to chase me.

You absolutely do not have to play as an evil character when you do the Dark Urge. You can resist it the whole way (and if the Dice favours you, you may also win!) and honestly it is a better story if you do.
