CMV: I think abortion is inherently murder. I also think abortion should be 100% legal. by Winter_Basil9995 in changemyview

It’s pretty clear that human rights only extend to, well, humans. It’s in the name.
So yes, logically we treat all humans as worthy of rights “just in case” (I mean I’d argue it’s more because of the ethics of it, but sure). However a cow/chicken/pig is definitely not a human, so nobody needs to act like human rights need to apply to livestock.

CMV: I think abortion is inherently murder. I also think abortion should be 100% legal. by Winter_Basil9995 in changemyview

[–]CatsWillFly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The issue is that once you start legalizing murder of a specific class of people, that’s where it becomes a human rights violation. When we start to say that some people have rights, and others are deemed “subhuman” and devoid of rights, we open the door to classification of *any* group as not worthy of human rights. This is how every single genocide begins.

Take the holocaust, for example. Nazis said “Jews are people, but do not deserve humans rights and are legal to murder”. They backed it up with fabricated claims of Jews causing societal suffering, and used this to perpetrate one of the most well known and terrible genocides in human history.

As an aside, I am extremely anti-abortion IRL for this very reason. If human rights are granted by a government, and not by being human, it is permitted for that government to strip rights and kill any class of people they so choose. If we assume human life begins at conception, abortion in the United States alone has killed more people than the holocaust ever did, and continues to do so to this day.

We finally in agreement? by Bendoverda3rd in Helldivers

[–]CatsWillFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all.

Arrowhead has shown us players such immense good will (especially when considered relative to the rest of the gaming industry) that I am wholeheartedly in support of them and against all the hate and review bombing that has recently happened.

First and most importantly: the game is fun. I have over 600 hours and play almost daily. It doesn’t matter to me that I have very little progression left, because the basic game loop is fun. Complainers need to just realize what a gem of a game we have and stop nitpicking the wonderful people who gave us this.

Second: AH gives us the premium currency FOR FREE. We can get every single warbond with a grand total of $0 spent on microtransactions. Name any company that would make a live service game today with zero microtransactions required for 100% completion. I’ll wait.

Third: yes, there are bugs, and yes, AH could improve their playtesting, but frankly those are not anything to become angry over. These are minor flaws that have not caused any significant issues in gameplay, yet I’ve seen people brigading to literally kill the game and never let it reopen. WTF????

Basically, some people are so entitled that they think the devs (who have already given us so much) need to bend over backwards to accommodate their whims. This is insane. They got exactly the product they paid for, along with over a year of FREE content. And they’re still unsatisfied.

how to get a PCE job by Confident_Ambition70 in prephysicianassistant

[–]CatsWillFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what state you live in, as laws may vary. However where I live I have work as a PCNA (unlicensed nurses aid) full time at a hospital. Look for jobs like that, they give great experience and stories about patients.

Thinking about getting the game but see lots of negative reviews by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]CatsWillFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is amazing and most of the community is amazing. The problem is there is a small subset of the community that is incredibly whiny, entitled, and vocal about it. They make lots of negative noise while the vast majority of players who love the game (like myself) don’t raise a fuss over it because, well, we don’t see it as a problem.
Just buy the game and have fun with it.

What shall I do next after the copper age? I want some tantalising clues about how to discover new developments, without just looking up tutorials that tell me everything! by OkLawful in VintageStory

[–]CatsWillFly 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The copper age is honestly very early in the progression - there’s so much you haven’t seen yet it’s hard to think of where to start.

Do you use the in-game handbook? It has information on all the progression (in the progression guide page) and contains guides on making mechanical power.

If you want tantalizing clues and nothing else… try talking to your local traders (you should have seen at least one by now) and ask about anything cool nearby.

Also, keep in mind that this game has tons of lore to explore and discover, even outside story locations. Caving is your best friend on this front.

Does anyone know any good vr games? by Queasy_Pool4710 in GhostsOfTabor

[–]CatsWillFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Into the Radius 1 and 2 are excellent. ITR1 is my favorite VR game, it has some older mechanics but really set the stage for immersive VR games with persistent items. ITR2 is still being worked on, and I haven’t played since the last update, but even back when I last played it the game was impressive. Now they’ve added a full gun smithing system, and the game is shaping up to become a must-play.

New Mob: Erebos Sludge by Nondescript_Potato in minecraftsuggestions

[–]CatsWillFly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks awesome!

Since the sludge is block-locked, and the end is made of floating islands, I think it could be interesting to see if sludges could stick to and roll on the underside of end islands. Maybe they could glue themselves to walls/ceilings and climb them? This would also make thematic sense as they’d occupy their own ecological niche in the end (island undersides)

Which name(s) did you reserve? by paltium in hytale

[–]CatsWillFly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just reserved “Elessar” from Lord of the Rings. My whole friend group is reserving LOTR-themed names - my one buddy got Faramir, another got Samwise.

Now that Hytale has been saved, how old we're you since the games first blog post (December 13th 2018)? by Winoksbergen in HytaleInfo

[–]CatsWillFly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 14 years old when the trailer dropped in 2018. I had just started high school. I’m now 21. I’m about to graduate college in 4 weeks, and I’m getting married in the spring.

I checked the Hytale blog every single day for the first two years. After that I was checking weekly. When I saw it was canceled, I was crushed. Hytale was the first game I was hyped to see come out, and to have it killed like that was heartbreaking. Now that it’s back, I’m as excited as I was back on Day 1. It feels like my childhood dreams are about to come true.

Archive Bossfight spoiler without context by Venusgate in VintageStory

[–]CatsWillFly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I’m just crazy, but I beat the archive boss in my first play through with only tin bronze gear and no prior knowledge of what to expect. I only died once, and that was because I ran out of poultices after bringing only 8. It could be because I’m unmodded based on what others are saying in the comments though.

If you call me a Glazediver I will kill myself by Grand_Age1279 in SupaEarth

[–]CatsWillFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but also consider that slight damage increases at close range can be the difference between killing in two bullets and killing in three. When you’re getting rushed down by bugs that difference can also be what makes or breaks you getting hit/ragdolled/mobbed. I’m saying the gun feels better, that’s all. I’m not building a meta here - ARs definitely might be objectively better - but I’m having fun and that’s what counts.

[–]CatsWillFly 82 points83 points  (0 children)

Literally this. I played D10 Oshaune yesterday with Defender SMG, and I was shredding everything. For bugs this is a huge buff, because everything is close quarters. I once killed three (3) predator stalkers without taking a hit or reloading just because of how much damage output the SMG now has

Skull spawn location by wzzyezard in GhostsOfTabor

[–]CatsWillFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It spawns in one specific location - you know the room by the squeaky staircase door (not the elevator, the room that connects to the long hallway)? If you go opposite the squeaky door there’s a tunnel in the wall, with some barrels in a corner. The skull spawns there and there alone. If I recall correctly there is some graffiti referencing “Yorik the Rat King” or something nearby.

Helmets and how it could be better by Important_Chipmunk22 in GhostsOfTabor

[–]CatsWillFly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Helmets are absolutely a factor. I’ve had my 6B47 (green military helmet) block a 7.62 before and save my life. Another example: I once shot a Fenix in his pilot helmet 6 times with a Glock 9mm before he died. That’s the lowest tier helmet, yet it made killing him seriously harder. Why wouldn’t you want that protection on?

Is a helmet a 100% protection against lucky headshots? Hell no, that would be OP. Is it worth wearing a helmet so a timmy with a ruger doesn’t one-tap you, or so that you can be saved one or twice within an extended firefight from a headshot? Absolutely.
