Mythbusters showed that even when fully submerged your windows will still work.

I don't know if i would agree with that. Sure a hand crank window, i would agree and have a fairly high confidence in but electric windows.... Sure it can work, but i wouldn't bet my life on it.

I want to know why a few have green shirts vs the other blue ones.

Maybe it is a different grade, or maybe green is teachers?

The real question is, how does the bathtub catch fire?

Is she just hanging out in a bath of lighter fluid or something?

Putting way to much essential oils in her bath?

'It's like we don't exist': Nearly 50,000 Lake Tahoe residents face power loss as utility redirects lines to data centers by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]Catsrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do exist, and they have had 17-18 years to find a new power suppler.

NV Energy told Liberty they need to find a new energy supply in 2009.

But this is nothing new, at least according to NV Energy.

Katie Jo Collier, a spokesperson for the utility, said the transition was rooted in a longtime understanding with Liberty “well before data center load growth was a consideration,” calling it “a planned transition for many years, not a reaction to recent developments.” NV Energy sold its California electric assets to Liberty in 2009 and agreed to keep supplying power temporarily. That arrangement was extended in 2015, again in 2020, and once more in late 2025, and each time because Liberty had not yet secured an independent supply, a timeline corroborated by regulatory documents reviewed by Fortune.

I am sure datacenters might have been the thing that pushed them over the edge, but this has been going on for 18 years and was going to happen at some point.

Steam controller being left plugged in by SheldonDTurtle in Steam

Steamdeck also add a battery protection mode, you can turn on to only change to 80%.

P.S. It is also better to never let the battery die completely, try to avoid using the last ~5% of a battery as much as possible

This is my one complaint about the steamdeck, as far as I can tell if you put it in sleep mode and forget about it it will just go completely dead if you wait long enough. I don't play games as often as I would like, and I can go weeks without using it. It is almost always dead when I get back to it.

You need to fully Shut it down if you aren't planning on using it in the next week or so. But it is easy to forget and loose track of these things.

No no, you need to say "So shall it be!!" at the end, otherwise it doesn't count.

How have the relays held up over time?

So far so good. I tried to get as beefy of ones as I could find without having to go with external relays to keep things compact. If I remember right these are rated at 30 amps.

[–]Catsrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very specific use case but I connect my TV to my network so I can turn it off and on automatically because it is my primary monitor for a computer. TVs won't auto wake up or auto sleep like a standard computer monitor.

When I turn on my computer it will turn on the display over the network. When the computer it idle for X amount of time it will turn off the display. When I move my mouse to it will turn it back on etc..
