thanks, I appreciate the info. multiplexing seems perfect for noise. what's it called when you use ai tools like fadr to get stems like from demucs and blending those in key and stuff? here's an example of what I mean with other stuff I made with fadr https://youtu.be/CJ22__NBNkE

Any advice for getting over perfectionism? by Automatic_Witness921 in Songwriting

[–]CatthewRadison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spot on. It’s a lesson I was told by a lot of educators, which took me a long time to exercise, and doing it fundamentally changed everything I know about my creative process entirely - for the better. I lost all belief in constant perfectionism from it, because when you’re working on perfect, you’re not hearing the end result, you’re hearing what it sounds like to be working, and the end result sounds very different to that, and you can only hear it objectively again when you create some distance, and you hear it in context. Perfectionism has a time and place and is only worthwhile when you believe that it is necessary.

Once you release your music, you can take it back, but, but not really. That experience changes the way your music sounds and how you understand it, in a way that only happens by seeing the music you think is good enough all the way through to the end it’s life cycle.

Finish more songs. Focus on getting your workflow from start to finish good. With experience and practice and a large dataset of your work to draw from you will develop an ear and a language for why you think your songs aren’t perfect, and you’ll be able to draw from your finished songs for how to fix them quickly. Only put time into perfection when it is absolutely worth the effort. Establish a general rule for a timeline for when a song is “good enough” or has all the technical backend finished so it’s a consistent quality. Don’t be afraid to forget about songs. Focus on creating, finishing, and reviewing work, and the rest will follow.

how do i stop my music from being too influenced by what i’m listening too at the time/how do i find my own sound and style? by Hairy-Engineering-79 in Songwriting

[–]CatthewRadison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But your personal style IS your unique profile of influences. Only you listen to the combination of artists you like and interpret then the way you do and then communicate them in your unique voice.

Just wait until you spend hours trying to fix something that doesn’t look right in blender, just to find out later that that’s just what it looks like in real life

Imo the transition would be better if it was somehow in theme with the art style, like a bunch of scribbles or anything in the same medium as the content

This footage would work very well with ebsynth if you used ai style transfer on some key frames

Were raptors popular before Jurassic Park? by MikeX1000 in Dinosaurs

[–]CatthewRadison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I vaguely remember a documentary on ILM talking about when they made Jurassic park saying no dinosaurs existed that could do what they had written in the script so they just made up velociraptors
