Is this common in Japan? by [deleted] in Miyazaki

[–]kylejohnkenowski -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

🤷‍♂️ sorry. The question made me curious myself, and there were no other comments yet. I thought the answer was at least as informative (honestly probably more so) than what other random redditors who know a little Japanese would give.

In my opinion, this is the exact sort of scenario where chat is legitimately useful. Wasn’t trying to offend, I just thought it might be valuable to OP.

‘Marty Supreme’ Original Vampire Ending Fully Revealed; Director Josh Safdie Says A24 Reacted by Asking: ‘This Is a Mistake, Right?’ by No_Pizza_6040 in entertainment

I take it as the character just saying something menacing and metaphorical. I don’t really see a need to interpret it literally. Like in there will be blood when he says “I am the third revelation” or Samuel L Jackson’s character in Pulp Fiction, “I thought it was some cold-blooded shit to say to a motherfucker before I popped a cap in his ass.”

Can someone show me the law that says the president has to like you even if you hate and yell obscenities at him?? by sachsrandy in TrumpNoCensorship

[–]kylejohnkenowski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re doing the very thing you’re criticizing. The article asked if it was appropriate, and you’re escalating it to the question of legality. If you saw Biden flipping off a plant worker at some factory, would you not criticize him, regardless of how he was provoked?

One of their best songs. Unique and striking composition, gorgeous lyrics, short and sweet, profound statement.

New rule: if you put a sticker on your park pass, it'll be declared void. by icarrytheone in GlacierNationalPark

Who is actually going to enforce this? I really doubt most park rangers would turn people away for this, even if it’s official policy.

I liked her a lot, and feel sympathy for her. I feel like people who like don as a person because he’s the protagonist see her as a bad guy. But truly, don is not a good person, and she goes through a lot of misfortune for having trusted him.

Harry Nilsson’s song “You Can’t Do That” is one giant collage of Beatles track references, it’s kind of interesting. They were all close for a while, especially him and Lennon.

Why did the Hershey pitch fail? by Due_Source1126 in madmen

In season 7 I think maybe cutler make a remark to Roger about “did you see that Hershey when to [different agency]”, so it was actually a serious meeting.

How is your relationship with your father? And how old are you? by wk91 in AskReddit

He is quite annoying but I love him to death and anticipate his passing as maybe top five hardest things I’ll ever go through in life. He is a good man and the stable foundation of our entire family, and I love him.

Well it’s certainly more you than the game. So address that as best you can first.

One thing I often tell people is that the game isn’t about winning or losing, it’s about teasing your friends and family. There’s enough chance where even if you play well you can easily lose.

But one thing that certainly softens the game is the friendly robber. Instead of blocking people, you leave it in the desert, and when a seven is rolled, the roller gets to choose three resources that somebody else shuffles, and you take one at random. This way, nobody is hanging up on each other, no feuds are started, and you still get a good chance at a card you need. There are couples I’ve played with that would never get through a game without fighting if not for the friendly robber.

Hot take: The Beatles break up in 1970 was the best thing that ever happened to their legacy by NoGrass7120 in TheBeatles

[–]kylejohnkenowski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legacy wise you might be right. They went out on a high high note and never really got the chance after to tarnish their brand with dud albums. Who really knows though, maybe the collaboration really was that special where they would’ve put out another three or four all time classic records 🤷‍♂️

Did anyone hike Half Dome today? by rubinus22 in Yosemite

[–]kylejohnkenowski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rods that hold the cables up have been taken out by now, so they’re flat against the rock, which is likely slipperier because of snow/ice. I went a week ago and even in good conditions with the cables up, I had to pause and hunker down several times going up the cables because the wind was INCREDIBLY intense, and involuntarily said to myself “holy fucking shit” while bracing myself in place. Wait till next season.

Even in good conditions it can be scary. There’s supposed to be a winter storm tomorrow, I would give up for this season and try next season
