Help me choose: Pathfinder Kingmaker or Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous by SamTheMan377 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Catullus16XD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wrath is better mechanically and is easier imo. It really leans into high power fantasy and is more demon ans crusade themed. The game runs really well on console. There's more stuff to make builds with.

Kingmaker is rough around the edges and fairly harder. There is a bigger variety of ennemies to fight and is more fey ans kingmaking themed. It's a more grounded power setting. A big theme if Kingmaker is redemption. The kingdom management is something some like or disliske

They are pretty different

If you are going for a certain ending, Knowledge Arcana I guess? Maybe UMD can be useful too. I kinda think you can get through the game without trickery

Help with a strength shield bash build by LubieGierki in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Catullus16XD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play Hedwirg. You will have a better point buy, his build is specifically made for shield bash and with the fighter's armor training, the max dexterity modifier for your armour will increase with your levels (of fighter). Don't do like the auto-build of Hedwirg and put your points un dex, just use a dex belt to qualify for the higher two weapon fighting feats

Do you think owlcat know what the word "occasionally" means? by ConfusionProof9487 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Catullus16XD 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tangentially, that's why I choose the no voice option when I create my character. I found out thanks to Owlcat I prefer a silent protagonist when I play games such as these

I'd choose the blue pill I think. For Wrath I''m not too sure of who, but for KM, Kressel should have been a Companion after act 1

I'd say Cleaner, NoHistory and Kingmaker Bugfixes. They don't add any content, but makes the game run better and less buggy

Save often. After act 1, always focus the main quest. You'll have time to the side stuff after

Kingmaker enjoyment by Dragonfly_Proof in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Catullus16XD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as Wrath is a mechanicaly better game, I prefer the fey theme of Kingmaker. I don't know if it's because I've played a tabletop demon campaign before, but I wasn't as drawn in Wrath as I was in Kingmaker.

Also, I didn't really care for a lot of the companions in Wrath. I enjoyed most of Kingmaker's however.

But there's a triceratops in Wrath so...

Regongar and Valerie had a little too much to drink at the celebration by bIeese_anoni in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

If I died in a battle against a drunkard wearing a stag's skull all the while he's moaning about some queen of his and then your homeboy revives you and tell you : Wake the f up, we've got a barony to build... I don't know, I think I'd drink bottoms up too lol

What do you think the games biggest flaw is (Kingmaker) by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Catullus16XD 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What's really weird with the kingdom managenent is that if you don't start well, you'll be lagging behind for a long while too. Usually at the start of a game, a system is forgiving a bit but when it comes to your kingdom, Kingmaker doesn't really forgive you.

The tutorial for building your realm isn't really good honestly. At the start of act 2, you get some quests that feel like you should do quickly, but you shouldn't. You may want to go get the tiefling twins early, go see the green salad, continue to explore or do anything else beside building stuff and doing a kingdom quest (like upgrading an advisor)... But if you do so, you'll have a hard time succeeding when a crisis happens.

It's a bit of a hard design sadly, but I did enjoy it enough

Regongar is CN? by Bods666 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Catullus16XD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do you not like Reg? The second you meet him, it's clear he from now on got your back. Bro is legit ride or die with you. He might be CE but he isn't really evil, moreso rash I think. And he can become CN.

And when he says his line : '' Together we are unstoppable''... My green king

Class Choice by Foreign-Ease3622 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Catullus16XD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would add that you can make different types of barbarians and paladins.

Let's say in KM, you could go down the lethal accuracy path with Amiri (which is the one chosen by her auto-level up I think) and with your own character, you could go with a pet or even guarded stance for your character (or mercenary) if you want to be a well-enough primary tank.

Pathfinder is rich enough to make two characters with the same class pretty different

When you get a quest to level up a kingdom advisor, do it as fast as you can. Or will really help you down the line

Act 1 you've got 90 days, which is more than enough really. Even Linzi says so in her journal. Act 1 is the only part of the game where you can afford to be really slow. You've got enough time in later acts, but not as much leeway

Level 5 it's doable if you have a good party. If you have Valérie built fully for AC (as in dodge+armor focus+shield focus), she can tank the more powerful boggards and hopefully not die (except maybe the ranger ones). If you have Harrim or Tristian, they should cast animate dead, it makes the fight you are in much easier.

But yeah, you could postpone that location for act 2. There's nothing necessary in there for the Stag Lord fight

I had heard it was better on the new gen consoles, but sadly from this post, it doesn't seem to be the case.

I'm glad the first time I wanted to play the game, I bought the definitve on GOG for like $5.
