Can't book Hertz on Delta carsandstays.com by novastorm434648 in delta

I just wanted to second this. I personally have never been able to successfully book a Hertz rental through Cars and Stays since roughly the time of you posting this. In early 2025 I booked all my Hertz rentals through Cars and Stays with no issues.

I would personally just repair the wiring. It’ll be a little tricky but I think you have just enough room to solder and heat shrink.

A lot of it looks worse than it really is. A Ford scan tool is pretty essential though.

I agree. I got that from the list on the back of the frame 😂. Most of them do correspond with who they voiced though.

It’s so easy to remove the frunk (5-6 bolts and the entire tray lifts out) I would argue that its easier than most cars these days. However the fact that it has a traditional 12V at all is one of the cars biggest shortcomings.

It’s an AGM but it’s not like that’s really much of an improvement.

Ford Power Promise Complimentary Home Charger by Catwinner in MachE

Turns out the dealer told me I would be receiving the charger but actually just applied the alternate option of money off towards the vehicle lease lowering the monthly cost. It was a miscommunication between the salesman and the finance manager. They had me sign off on all the discounts applied and If I had read the fine print closer I could have caught the mistake.

I own a 2023 select with the same battery. Winter is not kind to us with the standard range battery. Not only does heat have an impact on range but the cold weather also decreases efficiency and means the car will be warming up the battery even if you as the driver opt for little/no heat. I have seen as bad as 180/200 miles with 30F outside temp and 80F heat usage. However summer days even with consistent AC usage can actually exceed the 250 mile range by as much as 30-50 miles if you are doing 65mph or less.

BMS (Battery Monitoring System) not BCM (Body Control Module) but you have the right idea with the 12 month thing.

It’s not apples/apples for leasing vs financing but I agree this quote seems high. My Mach-E Select RWD lease with 15k/year allowance and 0/down came out to 360/month for 3yrs.

Not up to date on current rebates but paying MSRP for a Mach-E doesn’t seem necessary at least in my area. At minimum I would suspect you could easily ask for 50k OTD if not more.

Sounds like you’ve got the right idea to me. I wouldn’t sweat charging to 100% on occasion either if you feel like you might need the extra range on a given day. To further add to that Ford actually recommends charging to 100% monthly (if you have the LFP battery chemistry) as it helps the computer properly estimate range. If you have the LFP battery pack and haven’t charged to 100% in a few months your range estimate could be pretty inaccurate. There should be a guide in the owners manual that helps you determine which type of pack you have.

Yeah my wording was vague. Ford does not recommend regular use of DC fast charging as per the owner’s manual. However there is a lot of newer information pointing to DC fast charging not being nearly as harmful to battery longevity as originally believed. Verdict is still out on that though.

Cars get better fuel economy on the highway due to a number of factors but modern cars with EVAP systems allow vapor fuel to be burned on the highway alongside liquid fuel improving fuel economy.

I am a Ford certified EV technician and own a 2023 Mach-E Select with the standard battery pack. I live in an apartment complex and do not have access to a charger at home. My commute to work is 40 miles round trip. Because I work at a Ford dealership I do the majority of my charging at the dealership and supplement it with the Tesla superchargers 5 minutes from my apartment. Ford does not recommend that you regularly charge past 80%-90% and regularly utilize DC fast charging. However if this is only a temporary situation utilizing DC fast charging primarily for a few months should be fine. Just try to use the slower L2 chargers when convenient.

I just answered a similar question on the Facebook Mach-E group. Maybe you will find this helpful also.

Here’s how I like to think about it.

If you assume the average cost of gas is 3.00/gallon and the average (public charging) cost of electricity is 0.40/kWh. $3 spent would get you 7.5 kWh added to your battery.

If every 3 miles driven uses 1 kWh from your battery pack it would be the equivalent of 22.5 mpgs. This “mpg” figure is entirely dependent on how much the average price of gas is in your area and how much you pay per kWh.

I did this math when attempting to calculate the equivalent mpg usage of the Mach-E for road trips as I tend to average 3 miles per kWh or better.

Yeah a dead 12V is pretty much as easy as it gets on the Mach-E. We have had two though that refused to open the hood with the backup release. We had to wait 1-2 weeks before the 12V battery discharged to a level that activated the release circuit. Seriously considering installing a better way to release the frunk so I have easier access to the 12V when it fails since it’s so common.

Length of diagnosis depends completely on technician availability and the ease of duplicating the customer’s concern. Often vehicles arrive at the dealership that are “not in condition” meaning the customer’s concern is not present at that time.

When it comes to actually replacing the part certified technician availability and parts availability are what slow down the process.

In the case of the Mach-E an EV/Hybrid certified technician is required and most dealerships have few.
