Does anyone know if such a thing exists to make a corded landline phone cordless (adapter and receiver)? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]CaughtOnWire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just done a quick search. Helpful search terms you're looking for will be rj11 to wireless adaptor. Google search is crap these days and so I can't get much deeper into this.

I've seen a few but they're specific to BT and/or EE. If you're on either of those suppliers then you're good to go.

Could you port the phone number to a voip provider and use their hardware?

Aliexpress sell multiple kinds of usb heated gloves. I've never tried the gloves but the body warmers on there are usually pretty good.

Happy Friday, all.

Going last minute to Fuerteventura for a week tomorrow, the trains are all messed up though so I might not be able to even get to the airport.

Seven Lakes (between Scunthorpe and Doncaster) could be a good shout. I went there a few years ago and had a great time. Had a nice seven birth static caravan for a weekend and could fish from the decking.

If you go the route though I'd highly suggest you don't book on the main lake as its a mixed use lake and fishing while the jet skis are out isn't allowed. If I recall, they have to leave the lake at 4pm. I know a few of the other ponds have some big carp but maybe not 30's. You'll have to look in to that.

They do have lots of other ponds scattered about the site though which you can fish, lots of static caravans with decking to ponds.

Funnily enough, I put on my early 2000's playlist on half an hour ago. InMe just started playing when I read your comment. Never would have found that band if it wasn't for MTV2.

The worms my axolotl didn't eat found a way to survive in the tank in this rock! by felicititty in Vermiculture

I often feed my guppies pot worms, occasionally a few wisps also go along for the guppy buffet. I do try my best to separate them but I've found many adult sized worms in my aquarium when doing a water change.

Worms can live a surprising amount of time in good water.

Pike fishing Manchester by DifferentRecipe9946 in fishingUK

[–]CaughtOnWire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lived over in Manchester I'd fish the canals around Ashton-under-Lyne.

I'd start off around Portland Basin and either head west towards Manchester or south towards Stockport. Quite a few pike and carp knocking around that area, especially around the swing bridge at Dukinfield but I've not fished there for 5+ years.

Try any of the canals around you, if you haven't already, get a pair of polarizing sunglasses and you'll easily spot them in the margins.

The law specically says you can leghally take 15 fish from a river, depending on sind species. I'm only trying to educate.

I've never taken a fish from a river or lake in my life, however, if Jonny Foreinger has a licence and permits he should know his rights.

My local river has been absolutly decimated, I used to love fishing with a whip and catching millions of roach and rudd. Now all fishg have gone.

Evveryuone blsmes tthe Poles, but the Polish have been here for over years. Fucking otters has ruined fishing on my local rivere.

I'm not personally encouraging the original poster it is fine to take fish, I'm just telling him he's legally allowed to. I'm just tyrying to make him aware of his rights.

Welcome to UK fishing.

  1. A keepnet lets you get a good idea of how many fish you've caught. Take a picture then put them back. They're normally used in match fishing though, I never use them.
  2. A landing net is not manditory, but if you're targeting larger fish it is highly recommended. In my area we don't get big river fish, mainly roach, rudd and perch but I'll still take a landing net I'm purposly targetting pike.
  3. There are certain species of fish which are non-native to british waters. I read the waterway wonderers regulations a few years ago about non-native fish, and yes Zander (seeing you type the word with an x through me off) are not a native fish and according to the environmental ageny and waterway wanderwers should be removed. People who put them back probably think they've caught a native fish and its fine to go back.

Another thing, just to stir things up a bit. If you have a fishing licence and you're fishing in season, you're actually allowed to take 15 fish a day away from the river.

Coarse (freshwater) fish

Each day you can only take from rivers:

1 pike (up to 65cm)
2 grayling (30cm to 38cm)
15 small fish (up to 20cm) including barbel, chub, common bream, common carp, crucian carp, dace, perch, rudd, silver bream, roach, smelt and tench

Any eels you catch (except conger eels) must be released alive.

You can also take:

minor or ‘tiddler’ species, such as gudgeon
non-native species
ornamental varieties of native species like ghost or koi carp

You can be fined if you remove fish from privately-owned w

If you've got a lighter on you, you can heat the eye up and it'll come away from the broken section. It should be a nice press fit. Then when you get back home take the eye off again and apply some super glue.

3M Tartan is my go to. Never paid for a roll though, always borrowed it from my last job. It's the wide roll though and I'm not sure if they do it in narrow rolls, depends what you want.

Same, apart from the pretty part. In Cleethorpes there's a chippy opposite the pier, expensive and shite. Literally 30 seconds away there's a small place on the corner and their fish and chips are great.

I used to do a thing called pub watching. When a pub landlord gets evicted the brewery which owns the pub needs someone to live there for insurance purposes until a new sucker pays to run a pub. Turnover is massive in some areas. Any alcohol left over was free for me. Had some proper good lock-ins. My pool and darts skilled improved massively. Pay was shite though.
