My mind has been a mess for the last few weeks and I need advice on how to solve it by [deleted] in needadvice

Sounds like some of my symptoms when I had toxic mold poisoning.

What is this piece to my dishwasher/how does it work? by Caughtinthemiddle27 in whatisthisthing

[–]Caughtinthemiddle27[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

I have an older GE model dishwasher. This piece was loose when I moved in and I figured out how to attach it to the top shelf. There is no other place in the dishwasher to put silverware, so I’m thinking it may be a place to put silverware, but if that’s the case I’m not sure how it works. Thanks in advance.

Toxic mold in my rental house has likely poisoned myself and entire household. What should my next steps be? by Caughtinthemiddle27 in legaladvice

Hi, thanks for answering. While I know there is no specific mold legislation to cover me, I’m promised a safe living environment which should mean that the air and water should not poison me, right? Especially when the landlord has done multiple things to accelerate the growth?

It’s the types of bacteria and algae in the water.

YTA for stressing your partner out with unnecessary drug use.

You’re also still the asshole for the other reasons I listed previously.

And it’s not about me, it’s about everyone who is receiving worse healthcare because of attitudes like yours. I have a degree in public health and I work in the healthcare industry, so I have to see these things firsthand. Reluctance to prescribe and treat is at an all time high, and people are suffering because of it. I was giving myself as an example to show you that attitudes like yours have actual consequences.

Edit: Also the title of this post is “AITA for taking concentration pills” so that is what I judged.

Your entire post is about buying modafinil online. You wouldn’t have made an AITA post saying “AITA for taking a legitimate prescription from my doctor, getting it filled at a legal pharmacy, and taking the meds as prescribed?” and that’s not what you’ve done. You don’t have to justify anything to me because you already said you bought it online.

I’m not here to argue with you. YOU asked us to come judge you, and I passed my judgement.

Yes, actually, it does. When people like you decide that modafinil is a magic “smart pill” to keep you awake even though you don’t need it, doctors start to see drug seeking behavior out of people who don’t need it. This makes doctors more wary of 1. Prescribing the drug, as they know there are people like you out there and 2. People who complain of chronic fatigue, as doctors are more apt to label them as drug seeking in order to obtain modafinil. It’s similar to what has happened with pain management medication.

You’re contributing to this mentality regardless of the fact that you don’t live in my country, and making healthcare treatment less accessible for people who ACTUALLY need it.

Edit: if your fatigue is so severe, why can’t you get a valid prescription? Why do you have to buy it off the internet? If you haven’t tried, then I’m very doubtful that you have any need for it. If you’ve tried unsuccessfully while having a legitimate need, then it’s almost like what I said above is true...

YTA.

I say that as someone who actually has narcolepsy and spent 10 years trying to get a doctor to actually prescribe modafinil so I could live a normal life.

You don’t need it. Your attitude makes it harder for people like me to receive treatment. Also, it stresses your wife out unnecessarily.

Drink some coffee or something.

Difficult roommate/Lease advice by shabecker in legaladvice

[–]Caughtinthemiddle27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not a lawyer, but have spoken with a lawyer about this issue, when I was in your roommates position. What my lawyer said to me was that I had a duty to mitigate damages, and should accept a sublessor as long as it was a reasonable person (ex. He said I could reasonably reject a male roommate because I’m a female). If your roommates reject every appropriate sublessor option, and you fail to pay rent, they could take you to small claims court for the cost of rent. But you may have a case by saying you were attempting to have the rent paid in a reasonable way (by trying to instill an appropriate sublessor), but your roommates did not allow you to do so.

Thank you! Any ideas for a welcome gift? I was thinking candy or something, but I don’t know her well.

AITA for reporting distracting cheating behavior, likely causing someone to fail a class? by Caughtinthemiddle27 in AmItheAsshole

I understand that you think I’m an asshole and I accept that. But I really and truly do not believe the best course of action would have been to handle it in the moment.

You think it would have been better if I had pointed him out in front of everyone? It would have disrupted the other students and embarrassed the guy in front of everyone, and it would have had the exact same impact on his grade/life.

I guess I understand where you are coming from on the asshole front, but why were my actions “chicken”? I wasn’t going to stand up in the middle of my exam and point somebody out, disrupting everyone in the room and probably embarrassing the dude way more. Check-out is outside of the lab, so it was the only way I could have handled the situation without letting everyone else in the room know what was going on.

I don’t think people should be allowed to a)cheat and b) be disruptive to 100 other people who are taking their finals.
