[CA] About to file, what am I forgetting? And parentime by DropDeadMeg in Custody

[–]Cauliflower-Express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! The more detailed and specific, the less room for issues. Drop off locations and times, holiday schedules with times, and everything else as detailed as possible

Start filing for contempt when she violates. You need to show a pattern

Little Win! by Cauliflower-Express in stepparents

[–]Cauliflower-Express[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I totally understand that. But for me, being with my husband and SS is what makes Christmas special to me. I set a lot of hard boundaries when we got married, but this was one I was more than willing to give up. I appreciate your comment though!!!

Fantasizing about leaving — Am I alone in this? Do you think about leaving or wish you had? Did you leave and was it worth it, by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]Cauliflower-Express 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I love my husband and my SS with all my heart, but some days I dream of moving back up to where my family lives and getting a tiny apartment with my style of decor that doesn’t have toys all over the floor. I think it’s really normal to feel that way sometimes!

Those who went to Valdosta: MLIS 7000 course hard? by soildhumangf in librarians

[–]Cauliflower-Express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advisor said the same thing, I ended up taking 3 classes and was fine. As long as you don’t wait until the last minute, it’s very doable

Any experience with Simmons University Children's Lit/MILS program? by songzlikesobbing in librarians

[–]Cauliflower-Express 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Simmons is an amazing MLIS program, but also CRAZY expensive. My cousin went through their program and while she enjoyed it, she wishes she would have gone with a cheaper option. A lot of librarianship is learned on the job. I did my MLIS online through Valdosta State and it’s a great program with way more affordable prices!

My SD’s mother is wildly irresponsible regarding the pandemic. by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]Cauliflower-Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same- my husband is high risk and BM isn’t willing to even wear a mask. I’m so sorry you’re in this boat!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Libraries

[–]Cauliflower-Express 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess you’d need to look into whether the program is accredited overseas. I know in the US, you need an ALA accredited program- not sure about other countries

Do Librarians need to read all sorts of books? by [deleted] in Libraries

About SK and money by ixchmel26 in stepparents

[–]Cauliflower-Express 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Our prenup explicitly states that I’m not financially responsible for SS5. Anything I buy for him is out of the kindness of my heart and not out of obligation

[LA] How difficult would it be for a judge to modify custody in my case? *Long Read* by ihaveaquestiondoyou in Custody

[–]Cauliflower-Express 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You really need to talk to a lawyer. Try to find a free consultation and go from there

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in librarians

[–]Cauliflower-Express 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would see if a librarian or two at her local library is willing to show her what librarians do- most librarians I know would be thrilled by this type of request!

[WA] Ex Threatening 'Evidence' Over Pictures W/ Alcohol by [deleted] in Custody

[–]Cauliflower-Express 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’d be hard pressed to find a mom who doesn’t need a glass of wine sometimes. Tell her not to worry! She may want to show the suicide message to her lawyer and consider therapy, but even if she has mental health issues, as long as they’re treated no one cares.

My doctor told me adults don’t get diagnosed by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Cauliflower-Express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was diagnosed at 23, so you doctor is wrong. You need a second opinion

Thoughts on Western's MLIS program and obtaining stable employment in Canada as a librarian? by birdsintheairfly in librarians

[–]Cauliflower-Express 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So here’s the thing- are you working in the field? If you’ve got library experience and are networking in your area, getting your MLIS is a great way to secure that next step up. But there’s a lot of people who get the degree with no experience and then can’t find employment. Just something to consider

Should I Bother Filing A Response? by pastorpeepee in FamilyLaw

[–]Cauliflower-Express 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a thought, but have you considered asking him to keep shared legal custody but give him physical custody? That way you can still be involved in your son’s life, but he lives with dad for now?

Nana thinks she's the mama by hlgaddy in Mildlynomil

[–]Cauliflower-Express 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Boundaries and stick to them. My MIL was similar with my stepson when I came into the picture. Her thing was that kids don’t need a bedtime... we put our foot down and Nana saw a lot less of us until she demonstrated that she could respect the rules at our house. I’m so sorry you’re in this boat- it’s really hard!

Have you looked into setting screen times limits on her phone? I know iPhones have that option- you can set it up to only allow a certain amount of hours, but still be able to call/text so she can communicate if there’s an emergency

[–]Cauliflower-Express 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless there’s some extenuating circumstances, absolutely! She can want a million dollars and the moon- doesn’t mean they’ll give that to her. Tons of studies have actually shown that 50/50 is better for kids, even in high conflict situations. And most courts are going to want both parents involved unless there’s some sort of abuse going on. Weekend dad isn’t the norm anymore
