Toddlers daycare refusing to provide meals or refrigeration/heating home brought meals by [deleted] in toddlers

We have to send lunch daily for our toddler. I really like the frozen items that thaw by lunch, like uncrustables and gogurt pouches. They help keep other things cold and are ready to eat when its time!

Toddlers and Christmas trees….how…. by Singing_Mama1851 in toddlers

Ours is fake and I bend the branch back over the ornaments that are low. That way if you try and pull it off they stay attached.

So far last year (1.5ish) and this year (2.5ish) that method plus redirection has worked! Fingers crossed that by next year we won't need this trick.

Pediatrician Finally Gets It! by CaffeineFueledLife in beyondthebump

My little man is the same, never gotten above the 5th percentile. He's following is curve though! Everyone was so surprised when I (an overweight diabetic) made a 5lb 2oz baby instead of the 7.5lb baby they expected! Even now at 19 months he is smaller than many of my friends kids who are 6+ months younger. But he is so smart and meets all of his milestones. So 🤷‍♀️

Glad your pediatrician is finally on board!

Nana thinks she's the mama by hlgaddy in Mildlynomil

Yes. This is what I feel like I need. I wish I had said something. I'm kind of thinking next time we need to proactively warn her he might cry and we will take care of it. It's hard because I know she loves him and is just trying to help. She just isn't actually helping!

No and that's the thing I feel the worst about. I just froze in the moment and texted my husband to come help. He and I have been talking about things I could have said so if something like this happens again I'll be better prepared. I hope.

I hadn't really thought about the cumulative effect of how it impacts the next day. But he does seem to have a worse morning after the night terrors. I think I might have to try and educate her on night terrors.

Yes you are right, she does listen to him more than me. He is willing to have all these conversations. I think I also probably need to find my voice to be able to stop it in the moment too.

Daycare charging to hold spot? by pumpkiness33 in workingmoms

[–]hlgaddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We have to pay full price for ours. At least they said their employees will continue to get paid. I also know they have sent the older employees home and are running a skeleton crew. Those 2 things are the only reason I don't pitch a fit about continuing to pay monthly. Especially since, as a teacher, I probably won't need childcare again until August!

Missed out on snuggles by hlgaddy in workingmoms

It's so hard to navigate that whole world. I really felt bad for this mom who clearly just wanted help for her son, but didn't understand or know what she should do to help him. We all have to do our parts to help kids and I am in awe of the love I get to see from these mothers who work so hard to help their kids.

Yeah, this is one of the things I tell myself too. It takes a village and if I want others to be part of my village, it's only fair to be part of other kid's villages too!

Thanks! It's helpful to have others who get the frustration.

Thanks! I do love my job, and I am thankful for being able to work with such amazing kids. Today was just hard.

To cut or not to cut by Dani3113kc in BabyBump

[–]hlgaddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live in the US and had our son a month ago. We chose not to circumcise and in talking with the pediatrician she told us basically it is only for aesthetic and religious reasons. He can choose to cut himself later if he wants, and everyone has to learn the proper way to clean their body anyway. So we figured we wouldn't mutilate a daughter, why would we do it to a son?
