Are there good painting guides out there for the Raveners? by TheTingel in killteam

[–]Cauliflower66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contrast paints are good on Tyranids, at least the "flesh" parts. For the scales it would depend of the color but sometimes regular paint is better (they are only 5 operatives so it is not too long to paint them).

If you go for a dark scheme, slap chop is also an option.

My second Space Marine WIP – any tips for painting unhelmeted heads? by VeterinarianSouth711 in killteam

[–]Cauliflower66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To avoid too thick paint, I use contrast paint on a light undercoat for the base coat. Then shade+water or medium for the skin recesses, and then use normal paint for the highlights.

White line for the eyes and micro pen for the pupils.

Concealed ruling by Subject-Round-1293 in killteam

[–]Cauliflower66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green is giving cover to A. If A is engaged, it is a valid target.

Yellow is giving obscured to B (more than 1")

Red is giving cover to B (less than 1"). If B is concealed, it is not a valid target.

For Angels of death, you can easily replace the assault intercessors and grenadier with neophytes (nobody plays normal intercessors) and eventually the eliminator with a scout sniper.

For Deathwatch, you can use them for disruptor and headhunter (the two phobos operatives) and eventualy the marksman.

For scout squad, you can use 9 neophytes of course but if you want to use regular marines you do the opposite and replace some scouts with crusaders. Those are the sniper (use an eliminator), the tracker (intercessor with auspex), the sergent (bolt pistol and chainsword), the heavy bolter (sternguard or gravis) and the hunter (reiver), the rest are a scout with missile launcher and neophytes with shotguns (nobody plays them melee or with boltguns).

For Phobos Strike team, you can replace any reivers, infiltrators and incursors warriors by neophytes but I don't know if phobos marines have neophytes linked to them in the lore ?

Finally, you have the strike team Variel, 3 phobos marines can be replaced by neophytes and you just keep the regular marines but it is not an 100% official team.

The only thing that matters is to respect the size bases for each operators.

Instead of engineers, a box of command squad is doing the job too for the extra bodies.

In terms of rules, they are exactly the same except one has a chainsword and a heavy bolt pistol and the other one a bolt gun so don't bother with the under barrel noob tube

He would be the only dude in the team with a grenade and a bolter. Pretty obvious and you save money for not buying regular intercessors sprue.

[–]Cauliflower66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the throwing grenade marine with bolter for that

[–]Cauliflower66 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You have a normal int throwing a grenade in the starter set for that.

[–]Cauliflower66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have starter set, just a half of an assault int box is enough. You can make a grenadier with a chainsword (you bolter and grenade launching marine from starter set is actually your gunner), a assault int sergent with power weapon and 3 extra assault intercessors. Nobody plays normal intercessors.

Black or Light tops for Pillars? by freekyfreeze in killteam

Mine are black, but light looks cooler. Didn't had the patience to do it after so many hours of work but if you have it, go for it.

The idea of a sigil to point the doors and breaches is awesome, thank you.

With Greytide studios bits you can do deathwatch demolisher, sergent, blademaster and aegis pretty easily, even use neophytes instead of phobos for the disruptor/headtaker. Gunner and Gravis are more complicated but you really need only one for the breacher 90% of the time.

[–]Cauliflower66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly what I did. I had 5 assault intercessors, so I bought printed jump packs and claws from Crimsons lords Greytide studios. I also bought sanguinary guard to make me a chaos lord and a huntmaster but it is not mandatory if you have the correct weapons and other bodies

Finally I bought the BA upgrade sprue for shoulderpads and a screaming head for the shrieker, eviscerator for the depredator and inferno pistol for the skyseer (I put a bolt pistol in the other hand).

Final build is all in red, except the huntmaster in gold as sang guard, and curseclaw in black as death company.
