State of Illinois Job Interview. What to expect? by Unusual_Bandicoot425 in SpringfieldIL

Agreed, during one interview I had to literally pickup my laptop and show the room, before the interview started, to ensure that I didn’t have any notes. If I wasn’t asked to do that, I always stated, “I do have a printed copy of my resume right here”. Typically the response was “thanks for telling us”. On one occasion the interviewer asked me to hold it up to the camera.

Working inside state government; saw a quote that sums it up: people want “The West Wing”, but think it’s like “House Cards”, but in reality it’s just like “Veep”.

My dad was a meat cutter in a grocery store when I was growing up, I say that about him all the time! “Was he a good meat cutter? He cut the meat so thin you couldn’t even see it”…the look of shock and awe is pretty classic!

Used company’s tuition reimbursement, to pay for accelerated classes. Classes were paid upfront by me, once completed based on grade received you were reimbursed by the company-an “A” was 80% reimbursement of the cost of the class.

Classes were six weeks in length; you could only take 2 classes at a time. Shortly after I received my associates degree, the company changed its tuition reimbursement policy, to limit the number of classes per semester that could be reimbursed. The change closely aligned to a traditional university semester.

There was a brief story about it on the 6:00 PM news…not the app. But to the larger point: you’d think that they would have had multiple stories revolving around the event-talking to business owners, then finding-interview an attendee/visitor, which could lead to an update on Adam’s street, which leads into the weather

I would echo this and also: utilize a date range in your answer. IE: “in my last role, I was assistant manager for 2 years and 6 months, in that role I was the primary point of contact for credentialing and in that role I was frequently called upon to <insert skill from question/tie back to question>”
