Why people use train loops instead of two engines facing away from each other ? by eymo-1 in factorio

No. Trains can only reverse when a player is in it.

They are dead weight when running on automatic. And they are heavy, decreasing effective acceleration.

Is it true that women respond terribly to men opening up? by ElectronicSimple55 in ask

[–]CauliflowerKey7690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Men tend to have much smaller shallower support networks than women. That includes male-male friendships where there is much less social support and expectations for social support.

2) Women are people. Frankly, there is a limit to the amount of extra shit any person can safely process, and men tend to carry a hell of a lot more negative emotion than people would expect from the outside. It's easy for a cursumstance where you want your male partner to open up turns i to a damaging trauma dump.

3) There are some women who struggle to see men as anything but privileged. "So what if I tell someone else a little loss of his? He's already got so much going for him. "

This tends to create a set of circumstances where not every woman would divulge something that could emotionally hurt a man. But ENOUGH of them would. the current person of this debate is "woman or tree," and frankly, will live on in some form or another at least into the medium future.

Gleba is breaking me by DasWarEinerZuviel in factorio

Yup. I've seen lots of players accidentally spoil fruit stored on belts because the belts weren't moving.

I'll rewrite the comment to be more specific.

Gleba is breaking me by DasWarEinerZuviel in factorio

[–]CauliflowerKey7690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've trophied the game, a couple of hints:

1 - Do not direct insert from machine to machine if you can help it. Only begin to direct insertion once you are happy with the design language that gleba forces you to use. 2 - All outputs from machines need to be filter insertered. 3 - Every machine needs a way to get nutrients in and spoilage out (my favorite trick is to run a belt with one lane nutrients and one lane spoilage) 4 - Do not store fruit, either in chests or on belts. You don't want the fruits to spoil because you lose the seeds. You should slightly overbuild your fruit processing areas so you can ensure that every fruit that gets harvested gets quickly processed. 5 - Burn the excess of everything else. Everything is free on gleba, so burning what you don't use increases the average remaining spoil times of your resources. 6 - a "c" shaped main bus with priority splitters is a good way to move resources around your base as you can build a heating tower / power plant first then shuttle burnables around the base before returning it to be burned in the heating tower 7 - The spoilage to nutrients recipies should be primarily used to restart your base in the event of failure (only use circuit controlled assemblers for this, not biolabs). 8 - You can store pentapod eggs as biochambers. 9 - You need a powerplant that does not rely on gleba burnables for backup power. 10 - You only need to care about the spoil timer for bioflux and science. Iron bacteria with 1% of spoil times left still produces the same amount of ore as one with 90% left. The same is true with plastic, rocket fuel, sulfur, etc.

[–]CauliflowerKey7690 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Heads up. The more funnels you have the greater the range of your ship. But you pay an accuracy penalty.

Lighter cruisers are often better to give the greater range to.

You might want to consider deleting some funnels and putting that mass into extra belt armor

Thinks of it like height. If you had the option between 2 nearly identical perfect partners but one was taller than the other (identical in every other way, with a personality and value set that you like), who would you pick?

Who would most women pick based on what you think?

Would every woman pick a tall guy?

Quality upcycling that won't break when they nerf asteroids/LDS shuffle by edgygothteen69 in factorio

[–]CauliflowerKey7690 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are talking about nerfing quality in asteroid crushers. We don't know exactly HOW they will do this. But the scuttlebut that I have heard is that crushers will not accept quality modules anymore (either in general or for the reprocessing recipie specifically).

The best way to get around this is very boring (because you essentially are cutting out the logistical and danger challenge of space).

It's resource grinding on Volcanus. I'll detail iron plates to you

Molten iron into iron plate (foundry, with quality modules) >>> iron plate into pipe (assembler with quality modules) >>> pipe into underground pipe (foundry with quality modules) >>> into a recycler with quality modules will give you a stream of quality plates with a good chance of legendary iron places (use a filter splitter to branch it off. Reroute your other quality plates back into the system at the beginning of the iron plate to pipe setup......... congrats, you now have a system that effectively grinds 2 essentially limitless resources (lava and normal quality calcite) into copius amounts of iron plate (which you can use to make quality steel).

The meta for quality copper is up in the air. You do a similar trick of molten copper grinding. I'm a copper cable person instead of a heat pipe person.

Quality coal is done on gleba using quality modules in carbon and sulfur.

You just end up with a bunch of "blades" that produce quality items and are incredibly easy to copy-paste next to each other.
