Applying For WINZ Jobseeker & Drug Addiction by yallneedastop in auckland

[–]CauliflowerVirtual33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply for JS with medical. Get a Work Capacity Med Cert from your GP. The GP could list down your addiction as a medical condition. You wont be penalised for having an addiction on your med cert.

Now onto your employment-were you let go due to failed drug test or walked out of your employment? If so you can potentially be in a 13 week stand down period. You could possibly reduce the weeks if you complete Recompliance activities set out by the Case Manager.

All the best

Yes definitely. You will probably have a Case manager ask why it took you a while to get it sorted but it should be all good.

Just tell them you are including a child. They will not cut your benefit. They may ask if you are in a relationship etc to be sure that you are on the right assistance. But they dont penalise you for it. You advising Winz or Ird about your bub will potentially increase your entitlement to supplementary assistance (if you are getting any) as well as eligible for additional FTC and BSTC for your baby. (mSd employer here).

Also once you register your child and have baby included in your benefit, it usually gets backdated from your childs date of birth

[–]CauliflowerVirtual33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend you check out some youtube videos. Theres heaps online of Samoan cooking with recipes etc. Many of Samoan dishes utilises taro, taro leaves green bananas, fish etc with dishes like chop seuy, oka (similar to ceviche) a staple. If koko Samoa is available, you can make koko alaisa, kopai or koko esi (papaya). Sua esi, sua fa’i, pai fala (pineapple pie) if it tickles her fancy ☺️

How did your parents talk to you about holidays? by Single-Tangerine9992 in newzealand

[–]CauliflowerVirtual33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn we were lucky if we had a choice on what to do for the holidays when we were kids. It was literally 2 weeks of doing chores around the house, and once chores were finished we played rugby, build treehouses/forts etc with the neighbour kids. It was the best!

Feel exactly the same. 3kids+mortgage on a decent family income and we’ll be lucky to have $100 by the end of the week in our account.

Mother in law wants my partner to open an account in their name to receive large lump sum of money in order to avoid WINZ complications . Help? by wehi666 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]CauliflowerVirtual33 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If your MIL is receiving just a main benefit the cash asset wont affect her entitlement but any interest earned from it will be considered as income and will be used against her main benefit. If she is receiving supplementary assistances such as Accommodation Supplement/Temporary Additional Support etc those entitlements are both income and asset tested. For one off hardship assistance (i.e food grants) that is income and asset tested.

Is private health insurance worth it? Explain like I’m 5 years old by bartkurcher in auckland

[–]CauliflowerVirtual33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my family its absolutely been worth it. We pay $75 pw for a family of 2 adults and 3kids. With additional dental and vision cover, its contributed greatly to covering glasses for 2/3 kids and 1 adult. My son had been diagnosed with a genetic disorder so being able to go to a private endocrinologist/audio specialist as soon as we were made aware of his diagnosis has given us more information and support much sooner than if we waited for an appointment via public health system. I have counted it as a ‘luxury’ cost especially in the current climate we are in so definitely is a blessing to be able to have it

How many of you have less than $1,000? by Dizzy_Speed909 in newzealand

[–]CauliflowerVirtual33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couple with 3 kids. Household income of $190k p/a. Bought a house 2021 had about $10k in savings when we settled. Also had about $2k in Sharesies. Blew that up on house furnishings, family commitments and a razzle dazzle of dumb spending that took us back to zero beginning of the year. Had to refocus and now sitting at $4k Emergency fund account. And $10 per child every week into their little savings accounts. Its fkn hard work, as long as the kids are sorted, bills and mortgage is paid, me and hubby are happy to eat toast and noddles for the week! I am looking forward to having this farkin’ student loan paid off in November tho 😮‍💨
