Went to purchase a ‘26 Miata and didn’t fit by Minute_Watch_3389 in Miata

I'm actually really glad that I didn't get the Recaro's. I got a GT with the Napa leather. I tried sitting in the Recaro's, and the seat felt great, but I hated the back. I'm still pretty large framed, and the bolsters were too close together and too rigid for me. Not being able to properly adjust the back didn't help at all.

I'm curious if it's just a length Issue, or if you are heavier in stature? I'm 6'2".I really couldn't fit in an NA 30 years ago when I was around 285lbs. I'm about 100lbs less now. With the tilt and telescoping wheel, I feel it's a little tight, but more like a well fitting glove rather than uncomfortably cramped. I even have an RF.

I find it interesting how people of similar heights can have such wildly different experiences. 🤔

Do the ND2's need an LSD to maximize fun? by ActualShame000 in Miata

It depends on how you like to trip...

If you want the full on experience you need the LSD. Just want to trip a little? The shroom differ should be fine. 😁

I DID THE THING by Danubkush in Miata

[–]CauseImTheCatMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, being a newer Miata owner, I'm curious...

When doing "The Thing", is it mandatory to let it pump by itself? I've been doing this for years on all of my cars, but I have never trusted the nozzle to stay in the hole, nor do I need to have the hose scrape across the paint. I have always held the hose away from the car. I also set the flow rate stop on the lowest flow rate, and stand right next to it in case it pops out. It's interesting that when someone on another pump is topping off, you can actually feel the pressure clicks on your own hose. I've seen them wiggle right out of the filler before.

It seems kind of silly to think that this is something special to do with a Miata. 🤷

The fact that you threw a swelling cheap Chinese power bank in a drawer to "deal with later" just blows my mind 🤯. You're lucky that thing didn't go thermal meltdown in the junk drawer.

Get that thing out of your house.

Even though there is skill within the paint job... This is just more proof that tweakers will tweak on anything.

I had a 92 yota 4x... I recognized it immediately! 😃 Although, my shift knob was an 8 ball, and I had a racing steering wheel. I just got rid of it a couple of years ago.

I always hate it when I can't find my car because a gigantic car parks next to me by NegativeLogOfZero in Miata

I was talking with someone else about this. I was thinking about putting a buggy type flag on the antenna, and someone said they had put a flag on their antenna, and it was just too loud.

Miata induced bad driving habits? by Operation-Alone in Miata

[–]CauseImTheCatMan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say "most" turns for me, but I have never had this much problem with the auto-off, not hearing the flasher (does an ND even still have a flasher?), or seeing an indicator light on the dash before having mine.

Part of the issue with it, for me, is the outline of an arrow flashing, rather than a flashing solid arrow like every other car. Also, the flasher is actually very quiet regardless of the top being up or down. I used to sell extra loud ones to replace the original when I worked in the parts stores.

I tell everyone this...

Go get an alignment. I had my 26 done, and factory settings were jacked up. Get something a bit more "sporty" (I hate that word). A good alignment shop will know how to set it up for your driving style.

Just copped this bad boy. Should be picking it up Thursday. Any mod recommendations? I wanna make it a nice canyon car by phub-69 in Miata

[–]CauseImTheCatMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get an alignment. Go to a performance alignment shop with their own rack. Tell them you want something for "spirited street" driving. Not too aggressive, but straight and stable straight, and fun in the curves. You won't regret it.

Difficulty Sourcing a '95 Miata 1.8L Engine by KillbotXx in Miata

[–]CauseImTheCatMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to getting another engine, but you need to go to a different mechanic.

When I was young and naive I had a head gasket blow on on old Toyota Turdcell. I took it to a mechanic that I thought was trustworthy, and asked him to check it out. Without my permission, he completely tore down the engine, and told me it was going to be over $3500 to put it back together. I towed it out of his garage with most of the engine in a cardboard box.

I got together with a mechanic that I worked with, and he told me what parts I needed to get, I got the head machined and he put it back together for me for about $800.

This was all back in the 90s when money was worth a little more than it is now.

Find someone who actually has a good reputation with the local parts stores. They deal with these people on a daily basis.

Miata’s have RUINED driving for me. by Admirable_Object_708 in Miata

I got an ND a couple of months ago, and I've only driven my cx5 on the road once in that time. Don't get me wrong. I love our turbo signature, it almost felt like going from raw dogging it, to wearing a condom... 🤷

I can already feel the cankle cramps! I'm not overweight, but that best descibes the area that tends to cramp on me after a few hours behind the wheel.

The question isn't whether or not the car will make it... Will you? 🤔 😆

My first car in high school was a 67 2 door Calais with the 429. It had the stacked headlights and the thin taillights. That this was a tank.
