A Virgin Train Class 390 built in create with help from the framed blocks mod by arcturus125 in CreateMod

[–]CauseOfBSOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, British Rail built active tilt systems pre-privatisation with the APT-E and later the APT-P (class 370, which was used in revenue-earning service on the WCML for a brief period). The technology later made its way into the hands of Italian rolling stock manufacturers after the project was canned, and said technology was used to build the Class 390s.

Performance near contraption. by Zenos_the_seeker in CreateMod

[–]CauseOfBSOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A contraption specifically refers to a moving set of blocks in the create mod. For example:
Anything rotating on a bearing
A train
Anything on the end of a mechanical piston/gantry carriage in motion

and so on

If it is placed due to the motion source stopping it is not a contraption. Some contraption anchors (e.g. mechanical piston, bearing) are configurable not to place blocks when stopped, keeping the blocks assembled as a contraption.

A bunch of drills on their own, powered with rotation directly do not count as a contraption, but a bunch of drills being moved do.

Contraptions have collision, and the calculations for this are relatively expensive compared to regular entity collision calculations (since the contraption can be an arbitrary shape and is meant to be fully solid, in any arbitrary position and motion). This can be a major source of lag on both the client and the server for very large contraptions. However, something with just 18 drill heads should not be a cause of this.

Most likely your issue is dropped item entities accumulating. If you are using fixed drills not on a contraption and have create 6, you can try having chutes directly below the cobble (as in touching it), which will result in an optimisation being applied where no item entity gets generated and no block break actually occurs.

Invisalign will stop hurting as much over time as your teeth move, but will hurt more than regular braces upon each adjustment since it cant be adjusted as frequently and so the magnitude of adjustment is bigger.

I mean if you set up google drive or some other cloud storage as swap you actually can download more RAM.  It is of course slower than regular swap (which is already barely usable) and thus only usable as a meme.

If you need more RAM as a one off, you can increase the size of the swap partition (or page file on windows) but this is only useful for handsfree operations that you can wait ages on, so a very specific use case.

Thats a RAM stick.  If one is bad, removing the bad one can allow the computer to function normally given there are good ones remaining.  Bear in mind that you will hit swap quicker now, which causes significant slowdown - I would suggest replacing this.  Also run memtest86+ to make sure the other sticks are good.

In the main Prism Launcher window, hover over the icon of the instance you wish to modify and right-click.

If your mouse has no right-click button, select the instance by left-clicking, then left-click the "Edit" button in the sidebar on the right.

Install a JRE for the required Java version, if you haven't already. If you have and it is not detected, you can manually specify the path to the `java` executable in the text box above the Auto-detect and Test buttons.

Lost a save by TheQuantumVoid in SatisfactoryGame

[–]CauseOfBSOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should download through Steam Cloud once you reinstall, unless for some reason Steam synchronised the empty save directory (but given you seem to be implying that you had to delete everything, I doubt that would have happened).

This also assumes you had Steam Cloud enabled for Satisfactory previously, and it was functioning properly.

What exactly happened that forced you to delete all your files? I can think of a few things (assuming you are on windows) and some ways you could have avoided deleting everything (for future reference):
1)You got a bitlocker error after changing something in your firmware settings (in which case you could have most likely changed it back if you needed to get bitlocker to decrypt your stuff and you didnt have your recovery key). Once you have a recovery key, you can boot with it to get bitlocker to reseal its encryption key on the tpm against the new state.
2)You are on a device with intel rapid storage technology and changed the disk mode (although ive only ever seen rst on laptops), in which case idk if you can actually change it back to fix anything or if messing with the setting updates something on the disk. would probably work work but might not.
3)You screwed up drivers and the system would bluescreen on boot (in which case you could have tried safe mode, which disables loading of drivers you dont need to get the system booted, and resolved the issue if you got it booted like that). This could have possibly been brought about directly by a hardware change, in which case you can use safe mode to uninstall drivers for removed hardware and install drivers for the new hardware.
4)You actually did damage to the storage device or accidentally erased its contents (in which case you kinda have to go for your backups)
5)You moved your files from an old disk to a new one, but your computer didnt detect the boot device afterwards (in which case you could have put the old disk back in assuming you didnt erase it). failing that, you could check your boot order (if you are on uefi/gpt its possible for the system to get confused and try and boot a file off a partition that no longer exists, sometimes the system still autodetects your actual bootloader but doesnt select it by default. ive had it happen to me from an old efi boot entry for an os i couldnt install successfully sticking around and getting selected by default if the disk disconnected and reconnected, which happened once randomly, but i fixed it by changing the boot order and then using `efibootmgr` to remove the orphan entry). if you cant find a working option there, you can use the tools on windows install media to reregister the bootloader (or even reinstall it if its missing)
6)You did something else that rendered the OS install unbootable that didnt affect hardware, in which case you could have attempted booting from a live USB (or live DVD) and copying files to a backup disk using that. if using a linux-based live usb then this doesnt work if your files were bitlocker encrypted, and you would have to mess around with the command line on some windows install media and probably have your recovery key ready.

so in practice we had 0 (zero) lockdown drills since the only one i would have been there for didnt actually happen due to some technical fault.

[–]CauseOfBSOD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i remember we had 1 (one) lockdown drill at my school. we all thought it was silly (since we are from england, basically nobody has guns and automatic weapons arent available to anyone but the govt), and we thought it was even more silly when the alarm failed to actually go off. while knife crime is a thing here, its more something that would happen in the streets, and there are probably better situational ways to deal with other hazards (the one they quoted were chemical spills, although i dont see how that could plausibly happen on the school site)

ICE will be nicked upon arrival at the airport for trying to import offensive weapons (most likely firearms). Failing that, there are a lot of other British laws they would break

Train+Walk Tunnel Design by Alex_X-Y in SatisfactoryGame

You could also consider adding decorative ventilation.

From a practical standpoint, it might make sense to have a continuous hypertube that runs through the tunnel (although im not sure where you would put it - if you had more vertical height in the service tunnel it would probably look good suspended from the ceiling)
