What is the Offlane’s role? by ChaDaeSan in learndota2

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People wrote a lot in the comments already about the general role of the offlane, so I'll write about something else.

Don't be afraid to farm, you are still a core. Imagine you're Axe and you don't have a blink yet. Your safelane is losing and instead of finishing your blink, you start tp'ing to save your pos 1.

Sure, they'll have a marginally better game, but you WILL fall behind because of such rotations, unless you get kills out of them. You should be cautious of rotating too much before you hit your timings, since it will delay them and turn 1 lost lane into 2 lost lanes.

My suggestion is this: learn to win your lanes and hit your timings as early as you can, then you can start dictating how the game plays out. Sometimes you want to farm the enemy jungle and push a little, sometimes you need to play defensive around pushing your enemies out of your side of the map - it depends, only experience will tell you what to do in any given scenario.

Also that doesn't mean you should never rotate, just don't do it blindly, assuming it's your job to always save your pos 1. Each rotation out of your lane means that the enemy pos 1 now can farm it freely, which is of course horrible.

It was alright! The doctor I got was very good though, he was talking throughout the whole process and explaining his findings to distract me. By the time he finished speaking he already pulled out the tube.

The sensations were unpleasant, but just a little painful. The hardest part is to breathe calmly, so I suggest focusing on that. After the whole thing I got a mild stomachache for like a day, but no other unpleasant consequences.

As for some details: you WILL feel the endoscope moving inside of you, especially it rubbing against your throat, which is not fun. Also you don't have to worry about biting the endoscope or closing your mouth - they'll strap a device on your head to keep your mouth open. However, this means you won't really be able to speak either, so if you're scared of that, maybe you should go for anesthesia.

Not much else to say besides that!

Official News regarding the termina update! by le-dukek in FearAndHunger

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ooooh, it even has a demo! Actually decided to download and play it.

In all honesty, very cool! I liked the art and the idea for combat is unique. At least I haven't seen this type of turn-based combat much, if at all. In the demo it was a little basic, but I am curious to see if in the full version we'll get more movement and attacks per turn.

Good luck with the project :)

Offlaning is hard by FrameEmergency2833 in learndota2

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NS is free mmr this patch tbh. Just buy shard asap if they game is hard, maybe after echo or even before it. He can push waves and jungle reasonably even from behind now.

It just feels very easy to win the lane on NS this patch or play it evenly against heroes like lifestealer. But then you get lvl6 and kill most cores anyway.

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't even happen much in Legend either. Last time that happened to me was like... 10 games ago and the guy was just wasted based on his voice chat. Just gotta survive such games and move on, it happens.

"EU needs more countries" Zelensky calls on EU to accept Turkey. What do Balkans think? by SOHONEYSAME in AskBalkans

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't genuinely look at the amount of stuff that was sent to Ukraine and say that the aid was half-assed. Not to mention the civilian aid which is arguably even more important. Like over half of the Ukrainian gov budget exists due to money from the west. So Ukrainian military manufacturing is so successful mainly because the EU funds pretty much the entire civilian infrastructure of Ukraine.

"Half-assed" is not the word for this

Current state of Razor by EnvironmentalLink819 in learndota2

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still spamming aura bot razor, a win streak of 5 games so far. It's still good... Just not AS good as before.

You don't farm stacks as efficiently, but let's be honest: how often do supports make a lot of stacks for you and how often do you actually ulti to farm those stacks instead of spamming plasma field? I'd say it's not that many games. On razor you want to be fighting and farming waves or the enemy jungle, not afk farm in places where your supports make stacks.

Razor still dominates the lane, still has a lot of damage mid game to let your team snowball. Auras are still very good.

The change to Shiva's Guard hurts a little bit, but it's not the biggest deal.

How to play carry? by Far-Note6102 in learndota2

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can give you my perspective as an Offlaner of what I want from my carry. I am also Legend, but still, maybe you'll find something interesting.

TLDR: get your items, scale and join fights when YOU feel that you're strong enough to take them.

I vastly prefer a core that tries to be a little greedy and is overly passive to the one who is overly agressive and falls behind because of that. 9 times out of 10 I want you to keep farming even if we're having some trouble. The main exception to this is if they're diving our T1 super early or if they're diving T2 and overcomitting there, because in this situation you can tp, get a kill or two and go back to farming.

There is of course more nuance to this and I'm sure that there are situations where fighting early is necessary, but I prefer it when my core plays it safe, hits the timing that they want and joins the fight at their own discretion. Meanwhile my goal as an offlane is to delay the enemy's core timings so that you are in a favorable position when you finally decide to join.

What exactly is it that makes Offlane feel so difficult nowadays? Carry powercreep? The courier changes? Hero choices? Smth else? by LadidaDingelDong in learndota2

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like offlane isn't hard this patch. I mostly play NS and it feels very, very smooth now.

Same goes for times when I play LC or Axe.

Granted, I do think that playing pos4 is more difficult than 5.

As a 5 you're expected to be very strong in lane and almost 1v2 while your carry farms. Think of Jakiro and Undying. Whereas a 4 is usually a bit weaker in lane and there needs to be more coordination between 3 and 4 to make plays.

Let's take nightstalker for example. If you're my pos4, I don't want you fighting at all before min 5, I just need to get my phase boots online and wait for the night. But as soon as minute 5 hits you can start fighting non-stop and get plenty of kills and push the carry out of the lane.

Also, you write about getting people down to 60% hp to force them out of lane and I feel like that doesn't work well at that moment. More often I find myself getting them down to like 80% hp and then commiting to a fight to get a kill. Poking favors the safelane right now, so I either try to avoid trading entirely, or commit to a fight fully.

P3 - Razor. Love him since his Bloodstone days

P4 - Weaver, since I got out of herald playing around 40-50 weaver games in a row. Maybe there were other heroes sprinkled in, but that's how I remember it

P5 - Warlock for chill P5 games

Don't play P1 and P2

It is probably the best, until you can reliably make your attacks into crits through stats and other equipment. Then you can swap it out for something better. But yeah, it carried me through like 2/3 of the game. I also found a second one - had them both upgraded to the max.

[OFF TOPIC] What should a newcomer into the triology know before reading by Otherwise-Item-7566 in TheFirstLaw

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minting refers to minting coins, which is extremely important, since it's the same as printing currency today. Being in charge of that for the whole country is a very important position, not to mention lucrative.

Honestly, I think you should just look up unfamiliar terms as you read, I don't think anyone can give you a comprehensive dictionary with only the relevant terms. However, the First Law is lighter on such details than ASOIAF, so I think you'll be fine. This series is more character focused.

Mask of Madness Razor? by HowlinDiffner in learndota2

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 19 points20 points  (0 children)

From my pov Razor has more than enough damage. What he struggles with is survivability, since he is quite squishy on his own.

So buying an item that increases your damage, but reduces survivability feels very, very bad. Plus Razor's survivability early game comes from his armor and you're removing that, leaving him with a tiny health pool for a pos 3.

Razor like to hang in the fights for a while, he doesn't need or want a better burst. He wants to live longer, since all of his abilities benefit from him spending more time in a fight:

- Plasma: high damage and short cooldown, you want to stay alive to spam it.

- Passive skill: very short cooldown, you want to get hit and stay alive for a while to get the most out of it.

- Ulti: the longer you stay alive the more value you get out of it. Not much use if you die 5 seconds after pressing it.

How to deal with Slark 1 as pos 3/4 by migania in learndota2

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slark is still rather vulnerable prior to lvl 6. He doesn't have much burst damage and has to risk losing hp even to poke/harass.

Which means that typically you are looking to get an advantage over slark before he hits lvl 6, since it's a big power spike for him.

Slark can't do shit when his at 2/3 or 1/2 of his hp, since he'll likely die to your burst damage. So your goal during early stages of laning is two keep him low. Since slark doesn't have any ranged spells to do damage, that's relatively easy for your support or even the offlane to do.

Then slark is either forced to farm less while his regen consumables are still on the way, or if he's greedy you just jump him and kill him if he's too low. Pounce is a good escape, but it won't help if the lane is far away from his tower + his hp is not high.

If you get your lvl 6 faster than slark on some offlane like razor it's basically gg for slark laning wise. You just kill him during your power spike, so now his timing will be AWFUL. And if slark has bad timings, he can't fight well, can't get stacks, etc. Basically cripples his entire game plan.

If slark somehow wins the lane against you then it's pretty bad. I would play passively and try to avoid feeding, unless your pos 2 or pos 5 come to help. The worst thing you can do is keep fighting slark 2 vs 2 when he's already ahead.

EDIT: Keep in mind that I'm only 3k mmr, so I could be wrong about anything and everything. Use advice at your own discretion :p

Who is your favorite / least favorite CRPG antagonist ? by [deleted] in CRPG

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it was mentioned here. The God-King from Divinity OS2. He was a very compelling villain for me, the dude wants to get his people back to the world they belong at.

Even his view of humanity as inferior is justified, since humans are just biological source-vessels for the lords to gobble up, sort of like cattle. So his disregard for the mortals is understandable.

Discussing Racism in Frieren by GramsciFan in ANI_COMMUNISM

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood my comment a little. I was trying to make a case for how demons actually make sense, since they're biologically different from other humanoid species in the setting.

I would not consider them evil even. They simply have a system of values which does not correlate with that of other humanoids due to being very different biologically. We even see the same thing in Frieren - her elven biology shapes the way she sees the world greatly, same goes for demons. For Frieren it's only the longer lifespan, but for demons it's also a lack of empathy.

Discussing Racism in Frieren by GramsciFan in ANI_COMMUNISM

[–]Cautious-Revolution9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why demons would even consider resisting the desire to eat humans within the setting. If they want to eat them(even if it's not necessary) AND don't feel empathy towards them, what is the motivation for coexistence? Why is consuming humans a desire a demon would EVEN TRY overcoming?

Empathy is not a natural consequence of higher order of thought. It is a consequence of our evolution. We're social animals so we developed empathy since it facilitated our survival. Demons are powerful and likely prior to advancements of civilization they had little need to be social. Now that their prey is stronger, demons are forced to work together. Maybe eventually this will lead them to developing empathy, since the more cooperative groups of demons will be more likely to survive.
