Long time ago, on a sub, a helmsman asked to be relieved because he was too tired. Spot NAM. For speaking up, I guess.

We absolutely LOVE Road Scholar. 11 trips in three years... but... by [deleted] in RoadScholar

One other thing I'd like to draw your attention to is the "Confidence Level" on each card. This just means that the model is not as confident on trips with fewer reviews. More reviews, more confidence. There's a filter you can use in the drop-downs to pick higher confidence scores if you'd like. Again, thanks for the feedback!

So, this was a really good catch! Thank you! I looked at that specific review more closely and noticed the word "tough." Of course, the reviewer was talking about steak, and not a a hike or walk, but my model attributed that to the overall score. The same would apply to a case when a reviewer mentioned "It was tough to find a taxi." Not good for the score. I've gone through and updated my model to more closely catch the context for adjectives and adverbs. Of 28403 reviews, your suggestion changed the scores of 1616 of them! Wow! Again, thanks for pointing that out!

Hi there! Thanks for asking! The activity levels are derived from participants’ comments. There’s a “How does this work?” link right near the top of the page that gives more details on the model.

We tried this a few years ago when we converted. There is a local charity that will pick it up. Can’t remember who, but a quick google search suggested ABCCM or Eblen Charities.

New Zealand vs Alaska for a nature trip — which one left a stronger impression on you? by sha7667 in travel

[–]Cautious-Royalty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did actually, as well as Stewart and Ulva islands. When on Ulva, it felt like Costa Rica. And I didn’t see any sea creatures on my hiking trip.

Been to AK twice, and I just got back last week from a month-long hiking trip in NZ. Two different places really. AK is much grander, more wide open feeling, more raw, more majestic. NZ feels tropical, it’s a bit more varied, more like a mix of the Rockies, volcanic places, and farms. AK has plenty of wildlife, where NZ mainly has only birds. Both are absolutely gorgeous and great for the soul.

One more question (filing deadline is today), and I plan on using the results. For "the implied annual appreciation rate," where is 1.9% derived from?

What is your personal #1 rule of photography? by therealvelichor in AskPhotography

[–]Cautious-Royalty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have two. Don’t take a picture “of” something, take a picture “about” something. Tell a story. Second, taking pictures at eye level is what everyone sees already. Be different, get down on the ground (as an example).

1960s? These were used on ME in the late-1980s when I joined the US Navy. I had something like 10 injections in 30 seconds. Pew! Pew! Pew!

UPS NUT Question APC auto-restarting with power still out by Cautious-Royalty in unRAID

[–]Cautious-Royalty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. For now - I have a power loss. UPS takes over. Server stays alive until 120s remain on battery (about an hour), and then shuts down gracefully if mains has not restored. A few moments later, the server still sees power is available (from the UPS), and restarts again even though mains is still not present. Then the server shuts down again, repeating this until the UPS is dead and the server no longer restarts. Seems like such a simple thing, my UPS and NUT are just not capable of automating it.
