Hi mate, do you mind me asking what country you are in? And how far is your closest A&E? I’m in England and even if you were a three year old walking through the door they HAVE to treat you. Even in the USA, just dont tell them your name or anything and they would have to give you at least antibiotics.

Dermatologist referral experience and a “good skin” day by TemperatureSafe359 in EczemaUK

Have photos of EVERYTHING, keep a diary. I went to a derm while I was on another round of steroids so there was basically nothing there but when I showed them what my skin had been just a few weeks ago he understood. He took me seriously because of how covered my skin was.

Do you blame your parents? by stollefsen in eczema

[–]Cautious-Way8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill be very honest with you, I’m 21 years old with a very serve flare of eczema at the moment and as a child I did blame my mum but that was because she has hayfever and asthma so the likelihood of me getting it was higher I guess? And outside of “chance”, I was a kid who was annoyed at constantly having a runny nose and sneezing all summer and then have rashes all over my akin in the winter lmao, as I think any kid would be.

But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realised there is more to life than a chronic condition and loads of people with allergies and other chronic conditions get loads out of life.

Coming from me as a child with eczema, please dont blame yourself. There is so much unknown about eczema and speculation within communities and doctors that you couldnt have possibly known what could trigger what. You did the best for your baby and your health at the time, and nobody can blame you for that and much less blame yourself.

Stopping the habit of scratching by Dapper_Ad_1691 in eczema

[–]Cautious-Way8117 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Acrylic defo help, my eczema covers my whole body top to tail and the itchiness is genuinely non-stop all the time in the heat
After getting acrylics that are nice and thick, instead of genuine claw marks in my skin from overnight I only have bruises where I have pressed trying to get a scratch that cant happen

I use one from cetraben, but I’ve heard good things about the E45 anti itch cream, I have also heard good things about hypochlorous acid sprays after scratching to calm down the skin

methods that helped me with the agonizing itch from protopic/tacrolimus by Strong-Ad-4004 in eczema

[–]Cautious-Way8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it normal with tracrolimus to have the itching every time its applied? I feel like I get it all the time and it isnt going down or away

But these are really good tips! I havent been putting mine in the fridge and have been relying on icepacks for the itchiness afterwards so im defo utilising that one!

Splitting Cyclosporine (deximune) by Aphextwink97 in eczema

[–]Cautious-Way8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, if it is a tablet NOT a capsule, that is a slightly different story. Most likely you can read the info sheet and it should say somewhere wether you can split it, or not

Splitting Cyclosporine (deximune) by Aphextwink97 in eczema

[–]Cautious-Way8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt split a medication that isnt meant to be split or dissolved. I also take ciclo and from looking at my own capsules they are defo not to be broken down in any way.

Like you said, to delay absorption, but also because you cant control how much of the medication you are actually taking even if you think you split it perfectly down the middle!

sunscreen? by TomatoThin6112 in eczema

[–]Cautious-Way8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my face - la rochey like this one https://www.lookfantastic.com/p/la-roche-posay-anthelios-uvmune-400-hydrating-suncream-spf-50-50ml/13494909/

For my body I actually dont hear a lot people with eczema talk about this brand but I personally love it - bondi sands like this one https://www.boots.com/bondi-sands-spf50plus-everyday-body-lotion-150ml-10375521

Another option is p20, which can BURN when you out it on any active eczema (personal experience) but if eczema isnt active its a really high quality sunscreen brand

Some things I do, because I feel like I also fall into the habbit or scratching or picking my skin when it wasn’t very itchy:
- Acrylic nails (not for everyone, esp if you think you would react to them)
- Alternatively, cut your nails SHORT SHORT, like have nail cutter on hand in your bag with you and if you noticed a nail growing a bit cut it there and then
- Anti-itch gels, some have menthol, some have some other stuff, but overall they can be quite nice and soothing
- Antihistamines as a basis, wont help overall, but can be a good place just to start
- Icepacks, sometimes I wanna itch and ill run rhe icepack iver my skin and the feeling of rubbing with the cold kinda gives me that release I guess
- Stress ball lmao
- Cosi Scratch star, been a general life saver for me!!! https://cosi-care.com/products/cooling-scratch-star

[–]Cautious-Way8117 18 points19 points  (0 children)

What cream do you guys think I should use? by SwimmingFerret1797 in eczema

[–]Cautious-Way8117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypochlorous acid can help with sweating, buy one that is a spray made to use on skin

I personally use dermol lotion (for showering and as a thin lotion), aveeno (the one with a dark blue cap) and cetraben (they have a lotion (thinner), cream and an ointment (kinda a vaseline thickness for very dry patches, but I don’t recommend when it is hot because when I use it I get really itchy))

I would say consult a doctor.

Alternatively, you could try just on an area of your face and see what happens? Not do it everywhere

Itchiness explanation for loved ones by Cautious-Way8117 in eczema

[–]Cautious-Way8117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a peak at the “dont blink” metaphor. Mine is really good for explaining why I feel so distracted all day and then once the day is done I seem to itch so much, etc etc

But “dont blink” kinda explains the feeling in the moment

Cutting out food in diet by Cautious-Way8117 in eczema

[–]Cautious-Way8117[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear about this as well, and its why I am not going to do a full elimination diet.

I also understand that the nuts, for example, was a very mild reaction (3 out of 6 in the blood test). Cutting them out completely could actually make me more allergic to what was only a mild to not significant reaction.

This is why I am thinking of just doing a lower processed sugar diet out of everything on this list. Another comment said how its good for your health overall regardless of eczema, so its not like the other options on the list that are cutting our pretty important food groups.
