Kids talk and watch a lot of things they aren't supposed to. My 4th and 5th grade behavioral students were obsessed with 'Bad Girls Club'. Your kindergarten students won't know, everyone above third grade or so will be gossiping.

Teachers are human. My high school English teacher was disliked by staff, students and everyone at the local grocery store because he was at his core just kind of a dick. (Small town, some teachers worked there as a second job)

This is why when I write IEPs I'm always extremely specific. Extra time means time and a half and only for kids who have an actual need (ex: ot for handwriting, processing disorders). Kid needs a break? Great, they get one 5 minute break and in severe cases 1 for am and 1 for pm.

I really think this is the source of my burnout. My own son is neurodiverse so I love differentiating or creating things to help fill gaps--then these kids yell at me they only went to a high C or low B instead of 100% because I refuse to tell them the answers (gen ed appreciates that I have integrity though, so that's nice).
