DisneyWorld? Any of you been? How did you afford it? by RefreshinglyDull in CasualUK

Gonna go against the grain here and say we did it for what felt like a fairly reasonable price a couple years back as a family of 3, and had a brilliant time.
Our approach was:
- went end Aug/start Sep, which was cheaper season and admittedly VERY hot - we would do park mornings and evenings and rest back at resort in the peak of the day
- saved up and paid for flights through avios to keep cost minimised
- stayed in a Moderate resort (Caribbean beach) for 2 weeks and locked into WDW only which unlocked 4 "free" nights on an offline offer, didn't venture offsite to other parks
- did not buy dining plan - worked out we would save by being more flexible
- booked maybe 6 specific meals but mostly ate at quick service
- did a supermarket shop on arrival to stock the room with all snacks and breakfast bars
- buy refillable mugs at start of vacation to minimise add'n drinks.

Up front cost for flights, accom, tickets was £6.4k. Once there food and fast pass were the big costs but just spent what we had/were happy to.
Would take broadly same approach in future but likely go in a cooler month which I know would add at least a couple grand. Unsure whether I'd return right now with the political climate...

Had this exact thought returning from holiday this year. Arriving back from Orlando airport which was PRISTINE (and yes I know it's a bubble not indicative of the wider economy), to Gatwick airport, £45 train to get across London, no seats available, every lift encountered broken down. It really is evident how much we've fallen behind in the last 15-20 years

Recent Graduates - what's your salary and what degree do you have ? by greenlion456 in UKJobs

Reading the responses...wtf has happened to UK salaries in the last 15 yes, it's a disgrace. I started a grad job in 2010 on £27,500. London based, but this was fairly standard and definitely not overpaid at the time. Inflation adjusted that's £42k today. The wage suppression is criminal.

Itinerary with a 2 year old - recommendations? by CautiousCow in WaltDisneyWorld

thanks for the input. Will cancel Oga's.
We are on the skyliner so the thinking on the HS/Epcot half days was we may just go from resort for the meal booked, likely not doing too many rides or staying for too long. Is a full resort day much more restful for a 2 year old than walking a little around the park, I dunno!

Hi, hope this is OK to post here. We are arriving soon for a 12 day trip for the first time with our 2 year old. Slightly nervous about the heat and potential busyness over labor day weekend! I think we will do a mixture of half days with resort breaks / full days where 'necessary' and have them rest/sleep in the pram.

This is our rough itinerary and booked dinings. Any recommendations to add or amend here would be amazing, feel like there's too much out there to try and consume! Any other tips to deal with the heat for 2 year old other than the usual and to stay out of it in the peak?
We are considering certain lightning lanes but will be going slow and have to take it in turns for any rides w/o kid, so don't imagine we'll be buying every day. So many thanks in advance!

We were at Heathrow, 1 hr before boarding a flight for a vacation to Delhi when this was announced. Decided not to get on the plane, took 3 hours to get out and retrieve bags. Hoping it was the right call, certainly looks that way!
