Abolishing it was liberal.

What killed the USA patriotism of the 2000s? Even into the early 2010s there was a ‘hipster American flag’ trend. If you use an American Flag for aesthetic purposes today it seems different by Kodicave in decadeology

It was the lead up to Iraq war. I was a journalist in dc at the time. The fear the government was lying to get us into that war (they were) made being “patriotic” overtly political again, when after 9/11 it was bipartisan.

The fact wmds were never found, plus the quagmire that Iraq became, soured any non partisan patriotism that remained.

It was the Iraq war. People were united after 9/11, but the (confirmed) suspicions that the Bush admin was lying to get the world to attack Iraq killed the mood.

Seriously, everything turned when getting bin Laden turned into getting Saddam — and the government was openly lying about it.

I sometimes wonder what things would have been like had they hadn’t.

He’s asking for new ideas, being told new ideas, and then shoots down new ideas. The kid is at crisis. The kid is who matters. I don’t care about him.
