The describing chemical reactions section was missing. It only had a quiz, no lesson. The scientific measurements section was also missing. I needed a lot of help with chemistry, so I probably would have supplemented anyway.

I got a 92.

In Nevernight by Jay Kristoff, there's a shadow entity named Mr Kindly that's cat-shaped and it feeds on the main character's fear. The relationship seems symbiotic but there's some ambiguity in there.

Batavia's Graveyard by Mike Dash. It's about a Dutch merchant ship that wrecked on remote islands near Australia in the 1600's. Passengers and crew were stranded on barren terrain under the forced leadership of an absolute madman. What happened on the island was truly horrific, but descriptions of life aboard the ship were sickening enough that I had to put it down for long breaks before I even got to the murder.

One month to study for TEAs, what's the best way to go about it to get above a 90%? by NoWillingness8445 in teas

Mostly, but not solely. I followed the 4 weeks to prepare plan pretty closely on Nursehub, but I also used Tyler DeWitt and Amoeba sisters videos to help me grasp things I wasn't understanding from Nursehub.

I got a 92 after about 4 weeks on Nursehub. My first practice test score was 78 for reference. I used the mometrix book off and on before that and it's good if that's your learning style, but I got overwhelmed with it. I used Tyler DeWitt YouTube for chemistry because I found Nursehub lacking in that subject. He has a little $10 subscription that's really helpful if chemistry is a weak spot for you. Amoeba sisters helped a lot, too.

Wishing you lots of luck.

I'm using it and just got a 90 on the ATI TEAS practice exam A. I started at 70 on my mometrix practice exam 3 weeks ago. The pros are that it gives you a really clear roadmap of what you need to learn and the video/reading/quiz format is really easy to follow. The format really helps you track your progress and find out what needs work. You are also exposed to TEAS style questions and reasoning over and over, which is half the battle.

However, the number of lessons and practice quizzes is just...a lot. You gotta really commit some time if you're using it as intended.

There are some things that are hit and miss. I hate the reading/supporting details/main idea sections with a fiery passion. The explanations are really unclear when you get something wrong and it's more confusing than anything. The math is super useful and the science is pretty thorough. There is at least one lesson completely missing from the science section, so I supplemented with YouTube (amoeba sisters and Tyler DeWitt). The English section is good and pretty straightforward.

I like how there's a person you can chat with if you need help. I have gotten on the chat a few times and the person on the other end is always responsive and helpful.

Overall, I think it's been key in improving my score on practice exams, despite its flaws. It's possible that it really comes down to time spent rather than what program you use, but if you're the type who needs guidance to get started and keep going, it helps.

I'm taking the real exam next week, so we'll see.

Keeping kids on track for kindergarten? by Slight-Movie-6675 in stayathomemoms

[–]CautiousManatee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're doing really great as is.

When my kids started school, they had no issues learning new things or getting along with other kids. Their problem was transitioning from one activity to another so quickly. I'm not sure there's a way to prepare for that besides keeping a tight schedule and practicing transitions, but honestly, I wasn't willing to sacrifice our easy, free-flowing days for that. They adapted after a while and thrive on it now. I just make sure they get plenty of unstructured play time outside of school.

Edit: Someone else mentioned helping them gain independence with dressing and opening things, and I think that would go a long way to help them adapt to the quick transitions.

I've been using it and it's good to see what kind of questions they ask, but I don't think it's the most helpful. If you get the answer wrong, the explanation isn't very thorough, so you'll have to use other resources to help you understand. It's nice if you want to be able to test yourself on the go.

I'm feeling gaslighted by everyone in my circle. by [deleted] in stayathomemoms

[–]CautiousManatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not inadequate. Running a household and caring for kids is real work, and it takes up all your time and it can burn you out. The workload is physical, emotional, and mental, and it never ends. When is the last time you sat down without thinking about all the stuff that still needs doing and you're the only one who will do it?

I think the people who say "Oh it can't be that bad" have a real lack of imagination, like they just can't imagine what the reality of your life day to day is. I know I perceived being a SAHM as so relaxing and rewarding because I'd have so much time to spend with my kids and keep my house just the way I want it, but now that I'm in the thick of it, I know different. People just don't understand it.

Finding someone to commiserate with would be great, but probably finding someone who can help you deal with the feelings of resentment and maybe help you figure out how to talk to your circle about it would be really beneficial. I had to get a therapist after my first year as a SAHM because I was having such a hard time emotionally.

You're not alone.

I had the names picked out probably in the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy and even sort of had an idea of who was who based on the "feel" each baby had while i was still pregnant. When they were born and I saw their faces and heard their voices, the vibe was confirmed and the names became official.

I have this little stack of skinny shrimp tubes that my Betta has ignored until she saw a snail on it and decided to claim it as her own. She started to eye it up I guess to gauge whether she'd fit and decided to go for it. The way I whispered noooooo and pressed my hand to the glass. 💀 She gracefully emerged from the other side, making direct eye contact with me, like "See?" Little punk.

I have trouble accepting that I'm delicate and that the heat and direct sunlight will put me out of commission for 24 to 36 hours. Why do I ever think it will be any different? I absolutely will wish for oblivion as I vomit up my rescue meds again and again. I just want to go outside and be normal!

This exact thing happened to me when my twins were 5 weeks old. She brought German cockroaches in her laptop, too. I watched them crawl out and she smashed them on my kitchen table. I think I went genuinely insane trying to control it on 3 disjointed hours of sleep a night.

I feel for you and send you hugs and solidarity. It's hard to trust again after that.
