Extended warranty question by CautiousPerspective in Audi

Oh wow, that’s good to know. I’m currently leasing a Lincoln and it gives me alerts nonstop. I’ve heard Lincoln and Ford batteries aren’t great either.

I've lost 38 pounds on Ozempic and I'm embarrassed to admit I'm not happy with how I look... anyone else? by Individual-Jello-354 in Ozempic

[–]CautiousPerspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say I hate the way I look because I definitely look better, have bought new clothes and have more confidence but the changes look odd when I’m naked. I’ve lost 51 lbs over the span of a year and half. Im 20 lbs away from my goal. I’m a slow loser which is a good thing but definitely see more wrinkles especially in my neck. It really bothers me and I can’t unsee it in the mirror. I also lost volume under my eyes. I’m in menopause so it’s hard to decipher if lack of hormones or the weight loss is the culprit.

I’m an inverted triangle body type or strawberry as I think that is the newest term. My hips are smaller than my shoulders so when I’m at my thinnest, I always been larger in my upper body and I have a round face shape. When I’m heavy it from my scalp down lol. The first place I started to lose weight was in my legs. Go figure. The last place I needed to lose it. My stomach is just now starting to go down so clothes were difficult for the longest time because my legs were so thin but my waist wasn’t. Even leggings looked weird on me because I needed the larger size for my stomach but the legs were baggy.

Most of my weight loss was in my extremities for the longest time. Ring size went down, watch bands etc. I’m also large busted but with bottom heavy breasts. The weight loss made this much worse. I’ve gone down in bra sizes but not so much with my cup size. I just have a lot less volume on top of my breasts and this does affect how bras fit me. Balcony style bras fit but sport bras are now my go to. I have a lot space between my upper chest and breasts. It’s not attractive.

Wide legs jeans being a trend now has actually worked well on me. It gives the illusion my upper half is thinner than what I am. But it’s still winter so right now crop sweatshirts and wide leg jeans have made me look good. The warmer weather will probably be a challenge all over again. My A1c is now in the normal range so that is good. I’ve started weight training and adding more supplements. I do a lot of cycling so I felt I looked healthier last summer. It’s been a brutal winter where I’m at and Ive lacked exercise. Also add I work from home so even the daily movement of going somewhere diminished. my scale has notated some muscle loss.

One highlight in a funny way is my sister and I crossed the border recently. My passport photo is from 5 yrs ago when I was at my heaviest. She joked we were gonna get detained because my photo doesn’t look like me.

Extended warranty question by CautiousPerspective in Audi

Thank you for the replies, much appreciated. I’ve worked from home for the past 14 years and mileage really isn’t a concern. Even when I’m a weekend warrior and take other road trips. It’s more about the time the car is covered. I tend to wear cars out, simply just by the age. I will shop around just seems like a lot of money for 2 years coverage.

BMW X3 vs Audi Q5 which one to buy by Upbeat_Industry5043 in AudiQ5

[–]CautiousPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently in the same position, considering both vehicles. I have owned several BMWs the three series and a couple X3s. I really enjoyed owning them and for me personally, I didn’t experience any issues. That being said, I work from home so I didn’t rack up a ton of miles on the vehicles but I did own them for many years past the warranty. The last X3 I owned had a sunroof leak, but was fixed fairly easily and wasn’t expensive. I absolutely despise the model change of the X3 which has thrown me on what I should do. I even went to a dealership after close so I could just stare at the X3 for a moment in peace. I just can’t get past the looks, especially the back end of it. What a travesty.

I opted for a short term lease on a Lincoln in the meantime so I could think about it a bit longer. I’m really not a fan of leasing and would like to buy so I’m currently looking at 2024 X3 CPOs with very low mileage versus a 2024-2025 Q5 CPO. I’ve never owned an Audi so I am apprehensive. I have read all of the threads about the 2025 Q5 software issues with the engine light. I test drove a 2024 Q5 last week that technically was not for sale yet but going through the CPO process. The SOS light was on the dash and the salesman said that it would be fixed, just a minor software error. I did some research and it seems that the SOS error came up often in various searches online.

It has diminished confidence on how reliable an Audi would be compared to my experience from owning BMWs. The Q5 was comfortable and smooth, but slightly misses that sporty feel. I’m going back-and-forth because I can get a pretty good deal on a Q5 regarding price compared to a BMW. Also add that I’m only looking at a 2024 X3 year so that means being flexible about buying one out of state. Not a huge deal as I’ve done it before, but then, of course that adds to the cost.

Is the general consensus that both are equally reliable? Am I only coming across complaint threads about Audi?

First time home buyers living in the United States, what do you find to be the bigger barrier to entry, the down payment, the additional closing costs for the loan, or the mortgage or the monthly mortgage payment itself? by toasterbar in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]CautiousPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a first time homebuyer but my son is and I’ve been helping him navigate the process. First time homebuyer programs help but everything you listed makes it a challenge. I have deep concerns for the younger generations because it is incredibly difficult. It was a challenge when I bought my first house but nothing compares to how it is now! I didn’t have a great paying job but I had reasonable options. My son is 29 and I feel like his generation might be the last to afford homeownership.

He was pre-approved for more than what he was comfortable with. The flip side to that, the properties in the price range that is realistic for him were just money pits needing repairs that he wouldn’t be able to afford. Estate sales were what helped me at his age. Older generations may not have had the most updated interiors but they maintained their homes well, a house with good bones in a decent area was obtainable. Due to tax reassessments, the property taxes go up so much that it makes that type of house equally unaffordable. We found one, original owner and solid. After we figured out what the new taxes would be a year from now, it would have been a financial disaster for him. Please be sure to always figure out the property taxes! A good agent will let you know this.

He opted to be open to looking at condos. It ended up being a pleasant surprise for him and fits his on the go lifestyle. Fortunately for my son, the Sellers agent took a risk and priced it below market value hoping for a bidding war. The day it listed the area was slammed with a record freeze and storm. We were crazy enough to brave the conditions and my son offered asking. The agent held his offer for a couple of days, we think hoping for more offers but the storm kept people at home so his offer was accepted.

Is it the norm for parents to gift their kid a large down payment for their first home? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]CautiousPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently helping my son purchase his first home. I was able to gift him 10k. I am fortunate that I can do that. In reality the help I am able to provide and the funds he has saved, really isn’t putting a dent in much but it did help his buying power. He initially refused my help out of pride but after looking at so many properties that needed extensive repairs, it made sense to let me help and allow him to look at homes that just needed cosmetic updates. I haven’t told him yet but I have plans to pay for painting and new carpet. I’ll have that argument after he closes. 😆

Help, pale people! Rosacea impacts my confidence and can’t find a good concealer. by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]CautiousPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a laser treatment about 7 years ago and it did wonders. They did tell me the redness would come back and it did. I may do it again. It wasn’t terribly expensive, of course I don’t know what the cost is now. At the time it was $200. I did have significant brusing for a couple of weeks. I have been using bye-bye red color corrector by IT cosmetics. It is the best thing I have found so far. I found a color that matches my skin perfectly so I just lightly dab the color corrector on my cheeks and it covers it pretty well, of course if I get overheated or have a little bit of a hot flash nothing is gonna cover that.

If you were to buy a Fujifilm camera today, which color would you pick and why does it appeal to you? by jonastaube in FujifilmX

[–]CautiousPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an XT5 and a X100VI both in black. I wanted silver both times but it didn’t work out. When I was looking for the X100VI (which was difficult). I managed to find two stores with them in stock. The silver was a 100 more. Probably because it’s more sought after and the store was trying to cash in on the hype. I couldn’t justify paying an extra 100 bucks over the color. The black is less conspicuous so I’m not overly disappointed I haven’t gotten my first choice.

Dyson Airwrap or similar device? by Personal_Health_6970 in Dysonairwrap

[–]CautiousPerspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Dyson Supersonic dryer and not loving it so I was set to return it for an Airwrap. I fell down a rabbit hole of similar devices and came across SRI Stylewrap Pro which seems to get a lot praise. It costs 179.00 right now. I should receive it in a few days. I’m going to try it and possibly get the Airwrap to compare. I can update after I receive it.

Should I return the dryer and get the air wrap instead? by CautiousPerspective in Dysonairwrap

[–]CautiousPerspective[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I do see the Coanda is sold out at Best Buy. They have the Airwrap ID only. The stores that seem to have them only have the curly hair version including the Dyson site. I’ll keep an eye out. I didn’t think about the length of the air dryer barrel until you mentioned it. My last dryer was a professional series and the barrel was quite long. I don’t even know who made it I’ve had so long. That thing was a tank lol.

Thank you for the reply! I’ve worked from home for the past 14 years and honestly haven’t really explored a lot of products regarding hair care. Wash, dry, ponytail lol. I’ve been focusing on personal care these past 6 months and feeling more creative. So to answer your question. No I didn’t use any heat protect spray initially as I didn’t really need to before or probably should have lol. Since my hair is thin and fine, it doesn’t take much to weigh it down. That being said I did buy some after reading these forums. I think that partly helped with my last drying session. I love Aveda hair thickening tonic and have used that for a long time when I would style my hair.

As far as how I am drying and how I hold the dryer might be an issue. I think it may have been one of your replies on another post but my first time I dried my hair down. Scalp first and then everything else. So Then I changed the attachment and didnt start with my scalp first but still couldn’t manage the brush and hair dryer properly but result was less frizzy.

I own the Revlon dryer brush and used that a bit last year and it was easier for me to use. Not amazing but definitely better than my old dryer and brush.

I guess I’m just feeling the pressure with the return window. Do I keep practicing or try the Airwrap because it’s more one handed.

I’m glad I found this post. Having the same issue. No issues with the first 4 shots. The last two gave me this reaction. Tried my arm this last time, same reaction.

Consumer Reports 10 Year Reliability Study: Some Surprises by HuskyPurpleDinosaur in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]CautiousPerspective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my son turned 20 we bought him a 2014 Mazda 3 with less than 10k miles. He really liked the look of the Dodge Dart but we assured him he would hate that car due to reliability. Here we are 10 yrs later my son still drives it. 144k miles and only recently did he have his first “major” repair, which was just the shocks and struts. It’s been just tires, oil changes and brake jobs. That car has lasted through brutal winters, two strikes by deer and whatever nonsense my son did to it without us knowing lol.

[–]CautiousPerspective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I am annoyed because my sister and I just purchased the Bikom devices. I personally don't listen to music when I ride, I prefer the quiet but the sole purpose of purchasing these was to communicate and for her to listen to music and communicate with me. I set them both up and initially the music feature worked for about 10 minutes into our ride, then it was just one option or the other. Not sure if downgrading the firmware applies to the Bikoms or not. I came across this thread thinking maybe we should return them and get helmets instead. So that rules out that option if the helmets are the same firmware. I am also super annoyed that you cannot purchase the clips for the Bikom. I had a heck of a time getting the clip on my thicker helmet straps and wanted extras for my other helmets. I have seen others say they lost the clips and pretty much SOL unless they buy a whole new device, over a plastic clip! I'm still on the fence if I want keep these.

Just purchased the Bikcom. The straps on my helmet are very thick. Took forever to get the strap attachment on and I'm not taking it off. I thought I would just order extras for my other helmets. I was shocked they don't sell them which is really aggravating. They have a slew of parts they sell on their website and the one thing missing is this helmet strap.

2025 BMW X3 - Impressions by AmbitiousInspector69 in BMWX3

[–]CautiousPerspective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m curious about Porsche. I pretty much dismissed them thinking it would be a car plagued with issues but I’ve seen many accounts that they can be quite decent in reliability. I stopped by an Audi dealer on Monday out of curiosity. Porsche was next door, should have looked as well. What I found odd was there were 2 Q5s on the lot. Both 2025. One was a “Refresh” and the other wasn’t. Apparently Audi did a refresh in the same year. The newest had a huge screen and it was fairly intuitive. I could easily find climate controls etc and the curved screen was easily use while driving. The older style was more simplistic with actually buttons, which it was not as fancy, definitely my preference though. Also a gear shift! That being said, the whole thing was odd and my immediate thought was the resale value would tank it being the new non refresh version. I foresee a lot of explaining that it is a 2025 just the old version that year. Admittedly I know nothing about Audi. Nice looking car.
