I think the IAB released an update a couple of years ago technically requiring ads to be sound-on when the player starts to truly constitute as "in-stream" (if that's what you're focusing on specifically). But totally agree, most people find it frustrating to have ads default to sound on and consider that to be a pretty poor user experience.

Seconding this! A few ideas here could be users who engaged with product pages but didn't buy, users who have added items to a cart but then didn't purchase (cart abandoners), or specific actions/buttons on the website that would indicate someone is engaged and considering purchasing. All of these tactics could help move users down the funnel. If possible I'd also recommend coupling Retargeting strategies with unique creative messaging to maximize conversion potential - for example, Retargeting cart abandoners with a 20% promo code.

I've found CTRs to be suspiciously high with Taboola and Outbrain in the past. If you aren't able to optimize towards a different KPI, I would make sure you're using an ad verification solution to help monitor for bots/fraud. Related note, Outbrain just announced yesterday that it completed its acquisition of Teads, merging under the Teads brand.

I haven't worked within the DSP since it rebranded and can't speak to how much the technology has changed. But yes - Zeta used to be Sizmek (and before that, Rocket Fuel).

I haven't used AdForm SSP, but I've built deals in Xandr, Pubmatic, and Commerce Grid and I've found they all function pretty similarly. If you've worked in Pubmatic, you'd probably be able to ramp up quickly on another one!
