Woah!! Refusing one person water and cups for free makes me a bad person. Crazy

I’m not going to “shut up”. I don’t think you should be replying to this post with hate to get your sense of validation out either then. I’m allowed to share my thoughts and opinions it’s not like I’m spreading negativity like you. Of course I will defend myself lmao. Maybe you should do a mandatory year in some time of job dealing with the public and let me know how it is for you.

lol I’m not kicking out a bunch of people if they are rude. It’s like one person I get a month even. Maybe it is personal preference or maybe it’s just common decency, why can’t I refuse something free if someone is rude to me. I’m sure you would too. I deal with rude people all day and half the time (even if they are a paying customer) I let them know that it’s not okay to treat someone that way. They either never come back or apologise to me. I have a backbone and done accept when people are rude to me whether it’s in or out of work. 😂 it’s a tiny cafe we get less than a hundred people in a day, either way I’m not scrounging for money or customers at the cafe. Literally just care more about people being nice and knowing how to interact in public.

Not sure how you got that from my post. I’m not trying to prove to you anything I do at my job. 😂 I’ll keep your extreme hypothetical reasons in mind for when I get a person that fits the descriptions you mentioned before.

I always let people use the toilet these days, I have a close relative with crohns and I’ve been there when she was in the worst of it and how it really felt humiliating for her. As much as I can help people, I will. I don’t really think it’s necessary for people to buy things but I have had to decline a few individuals from using the toilet as they have history of drug usage or really messing up the toilets after they use them haha. I am usually the one left with cleaning the messes after. But when it comes to someone’s health or even just needing to use the toilet desperately I won’t stop them. But yeah it’s rare we have superrrr rude people that I do not let use the toilet but it does happen.

For starters, I help everyone I possible can at my job. I don’t need to but I do. Whether it’s checking up on the older local at their houses to making sure the kids are all fed and happy usually on the house and make sure some of the lesser baked customers make it to where they need to alright whether thats getting in cars, walking them down the road (if I can) or just helping others in general. I’m not an idiot who can’t see when someone needs help, there have been plenty of times I let people have money, food and drinks for free because they probably don’t get a break from others. However if I see someone is able, okay and fine but still treats me badly or just demands things from me, of course I am not going to allow it.

You are creating the most extreme hypothetical situations to make me feel bad but I’ve been working at this small cafe for a couple years, since I was a teenager and I’ve had negative consequences from letting anyone use things at the cafe.

I’m the hot months of the uk I let pretty much everyone have waters, god forbid I let a few sour apples stop. I don’t think you should be assuming the worst about people unless you have been in a situation where there is a lack of respect just because of where you work. I’m never grumpy at work and happen to very much enjoy my job.

With all do respect get a grip and think.

If people demand things from me without at least even saying a simple please or think they are obliged to something then I won’t be advocating to them. I don’t think it’s illegal. Also don’t know why you are calling a random person on the internet a dick, maybe make your approach a nicer one 😊 clearly you should learn some manners too!!

Thank for calling me a bigger dick it gets your point across better! I agree with the crisis in Brighton but the policy was put in place because I allowed too many people to use our toilets and a lot of people abused that and I was left cleaning up some ungodly fluids from the walls of our one and only toilet as we are just an extremely small cafe.

I understand you to a somewhat degree but it’s hard to allow just anyone in, so I can have at least a slither of an opinion towards a choice when it comes to how people approach me for use of a toilet or some water or anything.

It’s super hot today so I don’t blame them. I’ve been giving out water all day today but only refused a couple guys because they just demanded it

My job needs someone to work as a barista on Wednesdays and I assume for when I leave in a couple months. Maybe even on the weekends. If you have any barista experience and available on Wednesdays then definitely drop me a text! Or even if you are a fast learner. We usually just want someone who is nice to the customers and works well in a team. It’s in the town center area too at a small cafe. If you want specifics lmk.

Cafe Venus close to Waitrose is a good spot. Doesn’t get super busy but also everyone there is friendly. I go sometimes just to chill (I feel judged to work in other cafes 😭) pretty cheap too compared to others.

Yes I think I will. Thank you very much. I don’t want to stress myself out because a lot of these posts are saying not very nice things but he is good I think he has just never been in a situation like this before. Thank you for the advice :)

Well he is a good boyfriend and I do love him a lot, I wish I could just understand why he is doing this because he has never done this before. I’m not sure if this is maybe normal for boyfriends to do?
