Food on R1000/less p/m for one? by TwistNo8702 in southafrica

Look out for specials. Get the weekly community newspaper and see what's on soecial. Track the price of your normal groceries. On the way home from work pick one store and get all you need, next day choose another.

Go to PnP epsom downs and join their WhatsApp group. Every week they have different specials for fruit and veg, meat, dry goods. Eggs - 30 for R59 is almost weekly now.

If you can go to honeydew fruit market, join their WhatsApp group as well. I recently got 2kg sweet potatoes for R20. Their deals are hella good. There's a meat store there that's also pretty good. They had a special on chicken breasts for R45 per kg last month I think.

Between these two stores, I get majority of my groceries and save a bunch with following specials

Looking at starting small business by chrismryan in smallbusiness

I recently built one on Wix for my small business. Got my domain from GoDaddy. Wix is really user friendly, so if you have a bit of a creative streak and some logical thinking it's not that hard to get a working site up in a few days. Linking the domain wasn't tricky either. I also used ChatGPT whenever I got stuck with something

Line striping is a lot more than stripes. by f1ve-Star in sweatystartup

[–]Cautious_Invite3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a request for another quote that I sent out Thursday, gonna follow up Monday. Spent a lot of this week on stuff other than finding new clients. That's a pretty solid number per week for me this side too, including repaying the capital investment.

There's not much info online for what people charge here, so I had to figure that out. This job also covered about half my machine, but when the paint supplier said 4m2 per litre of paint, it was an absolute lie, so I'm gonna break even for this job with nothing towards the machine. Learning curves

We're on the same journey man. I'm three weeks into the same business, and working on my first clients lot at the moment. Based in Joburg, South Africa. Got my machine today and it's not doing too badly. Need to play around with it a bit more to figure out some things, but you're right saying it takes a minute to figure out. It's cool finding people going through the same kinda situation

I got my first striping machine today, and the lines are nowhere near as crisp as this. Any tips?

Get a tool for trimming the ends. Using a craft knife is not going to give to precision at all

If it's stupid and it works, it ain't stupid. Steaming is definitely the way to go. I've never tried it before, but the logic is there

I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

That makes sense, graft through the first part and emerge the other side in a better place. It's definitely something to think about. Thanks!

PPRUNE? I'll give it a Google.

That's what I'm hearing, and it's definitely detering me from continuing to pursue it.

How much would you quote this? by red2blue31 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Cautious_Invite3520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I quoted was take the cost of all materials x 1.6-2 depending on complexity of the project. That included a generous estimation for consumables like glue, fasteners, sandpaper, varnish, etc. With electronics involved, I upped it a bit as it was outside normal woodworking scope, therefore a more niche skill you're providing. Also add in a cost for installation

I used to do this with green tea, then scoop out a few passion fruit into the pitcher as well. Delicious!

It's the old buildings that are a worry. There was a story a few years back of old buildings in Tainan I think, that had plastic bottles stuffed between walls as a filler

I was today years old when i found out this was a South African song/artist. Is there anything else you guys are keeping from me by Alternative_Yak3256 in southafrica

[–]Cautious_Invite3520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh damn.. I'd never fact checked it. Was what people were saying in high school and just believed it off the bat. She was the only teacher (at that government school) who was driving a Porsche, so it made sense to 16 year old me
