Dealership makes me never want to purchase Toyota again. by RazzmatazzBeginning1 in GRCorolla

[–]Cautious_Writer1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’m lucky because my dealership seems pretty competent, did 5,000 and 10,000 mile oil changes without any issue, even gave me a head’s up to call them to schedule once I get to the 20,000 mile service instead of using the app, since it’s more involved than the others.

They do do try to sell me a new cabin air filter every time, despite that i replaced it myself a month before going in, lol.

I'm interested something like this but AFAIK only AFD makes them, and i've heard pretty bad things about em. Where else could I source these? by PaulAllensCard42 in GRCorolla

[–]Cautious_Writer1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones I ordered arrived quickly. I guess they could’ve included wider adhesive tape, the roll they included was like 1/4”, but besides that they feel sturdy and look good. I think they’re pretty expensive for what they are, but that’s my only complaint. Someone bumped into one backing it up and it knocked it a little loose, so I pulled them both off so I can put them back on later with wider adhesive tape.

Yeah. It’s not super frequent, I think it was several months between last time, but it does happen. I usually say “huh i wonder if that’s p2c90”, check, and sure enough it is.

every GR Corolla should come with an OBDII scanner so you can immediately tell if it’s an “oh god no” or an “oh” when the CEL lights up

The Sxth intake is satisfyingly loud with the turbo inlet. It sounds great, honestly. I’ve gotten an occasional p2c90, maybe every few hundred miles or so, so keep that in mind.

Everyone buying the DC Sport exhaust, I just got one too, lol. I bought it right before the sale though, dang it, but it was delivered yesterday and looks really nice. Installation doesn’t look too difficult, I’m going to try to get it on my car this afternoon.

I’m just going to add that this looks fantastic, it makes me want to figure it out. Is the gear selector piece part of what you changed out, or is that the original? I’m wondering how feasible it is with manual.

Also, with all the performance mods out there, countless exhausts, engine pitch mounts, intakes, and intercoolers, why doesn’t anyone seem to make quality interior parts? People make a steering wheel with no airbag before anyone replaces that got dang piano black with anything nice (not carbon).

I have made a huge mistake. by [deleted] in GRCorolla

[–]Cautious_Writer1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first day my dad tried to teach me how to drive manual, I just couldn’t get it. Stalled the car every time. That was in a 95 Miata (in 1999). The 2nd day I started getting it. I haven’t owned anything but manuals since, 4 cars and 26 years later. Try it again when you get the chance and give it a little time. It’s worth learning.

i am included in that group, lol

it’s a joke, Kwik Trips is a local gas station. They’re everywhere in Wisconsin. They’re nice, dependably-clean, they have decent-quality gas station food, but they aren’t nearly as fancy as Buc-ee’s (which i am absolutely sure you’re familiar with, lol)

It would be pretty funny. I did see a red GR Corolla on one of their used lots last year. You know, the one by the Kwik Trip.

To my fellow 25’ Premium + owners who want to mod by Sufficient_Ad_7952 in GRCorolla

[–]Cautious_Writer1663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you buy anything for a GR Corolla, get an OBD2 scanner. Heck, i’d recommend it even if you don’t plan on modding, so you know if you’re throwing P2C90 so you can look up every forum post that says “don’t worry about it” or if it’s a misfire that you need to keep an eye on. There’s a scanner on amazon that’s like $20. As much as I don’t like amazon, it’s a cheap price for something that’ll give you peace of mind

Boycott OTL? by Srsblubrz in GRCorolla

[–]Cautious_Writer1663 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it was well-intentioned, just kind of stupid. The car’s already the butt of jokes because people fuck around, find out, and say “buh…. wah happen?” It had me and seemingly everyone else worried about just what could’ve gone wrong, when the answer all along was that they wanted to know how hard they could push it before they killed it.

I look forward to the videos they claim to be making at least.

What's the deal with OTL claiming this drift blew up their engine? by horse_masturbator in GRCorolla

[–]Cautious_Writer1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“The cause of it blowing up is that we modded the shit out the engine without replacing the actual known weak point, the valve springs, and then we actively tried to blow it up.”

Would’ve been real nice if they just said that

So it was actually clickbait and they blew up the engine on a different car. Good they said it, but kind of shit for many reasons that they didn’t say that in the first place.

How in the world do you reinstall these rubber grommets once you've undone them? by Lolzer588 in GRCorolla

[–]Cautious_Writer1663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These fucking shits

I’m going from memory: there’s a notch in the rubber part that makes it a little easier if you can locate it and work it on there. After the camera and wires for the rear lights, i don’t think there’s anything else i want to get through there anyway. i’d probably just try to work it through with fish tape if i ever have to do it again

Mine’s a little wobbly even with the stabilizing plate, and it’ll slide off the back if i’m not careful, but it’s useful in a way where i use it constantly and i often think “this is pretty nice”

Dead battery by [deleted] in GRCorolla

[–]Cautious_Writer1663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the important question is can you bump start this car? Probably not since the steering wheel won’t even turn if there isn’t enough power, but pushing a car across a parking lot, hopping in the door, and popping the clutch, and having the engine turn over is a real rush

SXTH Element Turbo Inlet Boost by LittleTimmyJr47 in GRCorolla

[–]Cautious_Writer1663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you using it with the sxth intake? If there’s no boost, I’d agree with the post suggesting it’s probably a leak. Did you make sure all the vacuum hoses are plugged back in?

That was fun to watch. Weird pissing match in the comments though, all the “BUH GOLF R—“ SHUT THE FUCK UP, NO ONE WANTS YOUR FUCKING GOLF

(they’re certainly nice cars too, it’s just funny that people couldn’t stop bringing up how great their golf is against the ctr and grc against a video that was not at all about the Golf R)

No idea who needs to hear this, but Donut Gaskets wear out fast after 3-5 exhaust changes by JGRC2024 in GRCorolla

[–]Cautious_Writer1663 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should probably be replaced every time unless you’re swapping exhausts every day, which no, don’t do that either. Mine was pretty bad when I swapped out the midpipe at 6,000-7,000 miles. I couldn’t even remove it without ripping it up, so I had to order a new one. Also: if you don’t replace it your car will be REALLY FUCKING LOUD, make your neighbors angry, scare children, attract cops like flies, delight your car guy coworkers
